greenj2 Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 We are having a new moodle site set up and have been told the courses come out on the front page in a random order. Is it possible to put our courses on our moodle site alphabetically, and our year groups running from 7 to 13 rather than 13 to 7? there must be a setting that allows this but I am not having much luck with a solution.
Achandler Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 its numeric order on the first digit, so if you used 07 etc that would be an easy and quick fix. 1
greenj2 Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 Thanks, I thought that but our supplier did not suggest it so thought it may not be an option. Do you have a solution for the courses going in alphabetical order, I think it is version 2.4 ?
penfold_99 Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Which database are you running? as you can create a sql statement that can the categories and courses.
greenj2 Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 I'm sorry but I don't know. We are unable to get on to the Linux box as we are a windows only domain. We are not quite believing our supplier so were doing some investigations ourselves before we accept their negative outlook.

When you say courses, on the front page, do you actually mean Categories? The top level, usually found across the top, under the school banner, and user details box. If so, then these are not organised by alphabet at all. You have complete control of where everything goes in the following location. Administration / ▶ Courses / ▶ Add/edit courses (Moodle 1.9.xx) where the little green arrows indicate where in the 'list' you wish them to come. I warn you, that it can take time to reorder them. I had to do this after a change of policy. Not a happy camper that day.
