Exchange 2003 and using Outlook via the internet

Hi,

 

I'm running Exchange 2003 and everything has been working fine. Everybody has been happily using OWA, however, our new head has decided that she wants to be able to use Outlook 2010 from home. I've done a bit of Googling and get various results, none of which seem to work.

 

Could someone who has done this please run me through what I need to be doing?

Your on a hiding to nothing on this.

RPC over HTTPs is what you need and is poorly supported on Exchange 2003.

To do it on a single box you need to hack about with IIS and a bunch of registry keys.

The hack is more or less what they do with SBS server, and its not officially supported.

Add to this the fact that it is end of life and there is no future in it should tell you that its time to move on and change it, even better move it to the cloud and have done with it.

We have SBS 2003, don't ask why out of my control and it suites me fine but one thing I hate is OWA. As standard is SBS 2003 setup to work via RPC?

 

Would love to run my email on Outlook via the web.

Sort of, it needs all of the service packs especially Exchange, a valid 3rd Party SSL helps along with the correct port forwarding.

 

If you have Remote Web Workplace up and running your almost there any way.

 

I can't help beyond that as we scrapped our and went cloud based years ago so Im working from memory but it does work fine.

Thanks, this was pretty much the answer I was expecting. I'm planning on updating our Exchange server in the summer anyway so it'll wait til then.
