TechSupp Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 (edited) I thought I had all things locked down then found a couple of PC's with icons set to a large size. Couldnt figure out how they had done it until I found out they just scrolled the wheel on the mouse by accident and it zoomed the desktop icon size (think I needed to hold ctrl down as well). Is it possible to lock this down some how (not disabling the wheel on the mouse though) or can I set the size at logon if I cant stop them using GPO (using server 2008 R2) Edited April 21, 2013 by TechSupp
Valyyn Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I've had a google for this and I'm not sure it's doable :/ The guys at sevenforums don't think so at least, and they tend to be pretty good: Desktop Icon Resize with Mouse Wheel - Windows 7 Help Forums Edit - That said, if anyone does know a way, then I'd love to know it too
SYNACK Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 (edited) How To Resize Desktop Icons In Windows 7 or Vista Lock down the reg key in question through gpo why bother anyway, it is per user and only messes with the person doing it. http://theether.net/kb/100162 Edited April 22, 2013 by SYNACK 2
TechSupp Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 Now you have correctly answered your starter for 10, your next follow on question is...can I also set the arrangement of them i.e. by Name?
spc-rocket Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Hiya, The reg key you need is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags\1\Desktop. Change the IconSize to the value of 32, 48, 64 etc. Not sure about which numbers means which size but it should work. You need to logoff and re-login again to see the changes. Ash.
