MattDLEA Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Ours came back about the same time, we had intermittent service last week and no internet yesterday and this morning. NGFL do not seem to grasp that we rely on this for lessons - at this time of year a wasted lesson costs our students in exam prep time etc. Can we get a refund for lost days? Hi Sharon, We are busy looking through the contract as we speak. As this is not the first issue we have had. When the connection got switched in summer. The guys came out installed and everything worked that was in the holidays, once all the schools came back the first week it was just to much for the system. Now we have had a week of very intermittent downtime along with some full days with out internet. It may be worth looking at the back page of the contract. As our thinking is that this is a critical fault total loss of service which should have been resolved in 5 hours. Would be interested in seeing what others think...
MattDLEA Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Can I ask for the people who phoned BT up and logged the fault with them have you been pestered with phone calls from a company asking for feedback on the service?
adhutton Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 Can I ask for the people who phoned BT up and logged the fault with them have you been pestered with phone calls from a company asking for feedback on the service? They have callled us once. I answered a few questions on the phone (took about 5 minutes) and gave BT a 'terrible' rating for this incident! Andrew
adhutton Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 I know this is an old thread, but just wondered if any other Northern Grid/BT schools were having any Internet problems recently? Our connection has been poor (laggy/slow) now for a couple of weeks since their aborted firewall changeover on 9th January. Anyone else got issues? Cheers - Andrew
Sharon_Wright Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Yes we have had trouble since the Firewall upgrade 10 days ago. It keeps stopping intermittenly for different lengths of time, our IT Tech rang BTyesterday and they said "NGFL are looking into it at their end". Hope we are not in for a repeat performance of the upgraded firewall from last year.
Michael Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Sounds all too familiar to the problems experienced with the BGFL / Link2ICT. See discussion here They also are using Checkpoint. Although things have settled now, the migration was an absolute disaster and also took a good week to resolve before the New Year. Still to this day however, (I've tested numerous schools), they're still not getting the full 10Mbps bearing in mind they're on leased lines!
MattDLEA Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Any one else had problems today both my schools have been down fully for 30 mins and been intermittent with slow and time outs yesterday? It seams to be every other week when we have loss of connection or some slowness with the connection.
nev104 Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Both our site's were down for 30 minutes today, After contacting BT about this, they told us that Northern Grid had a major outage in there network. All appears to be fine now. We have had nothing but problems from them in the past month. 1
adhutton Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 Yep, we've been off for about 30 minutes today as well... I reported the outage to BT, but it took me about 20 minutes to get through on their helpline!!! We've also had nothing but bother with NGFL since they went over to BT. I wonder if there are any representatives of Northern Grid (NGFL) or BT corporate on here who would care to comment/update us on the situation? We certainly won't be staying with them once our current contract expires. Far too unreliable! Andrew 1
adhutton Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Another BAD day with Northern Grid! On and off at various times again today...apparently a possible DDoS attack on the BT network/JANET. When will this get sorted out???? Wouldn't you think that one of the biggest telecoms companies in the country (i.e. BT) would be able to fix this???? Andrew
MattDLEA Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Same here. We are now getting extremely annoyed at the situation, we use a lot of websites in lessons. its just so unreliable. We are thinking about billing them for the overtime we have to do, catching up on work we cant do while its down
