Marlux MR-215 Tuner Potentiometer repair, need help!

So, I dragged this old receiver to my school to replace the potentiometer string, but nor I and the teacher find out how to get it done?

 

Can anyone help us on how to put the string around the tuner wheel? The string isn't supposed to shift, I will be happy to provide more information when required.

 

Tuner wheel, the string needs to be wrapped around those plastic dots SOMEHOW.

 

String configuration, but not shown how it goes around the wheel

That is my own video.... I used to be bragging on YouTube over this thing, but now it's just a paperweight, any suggestions?

 

Also, I have been checking it, the schematic on the cover is showing nearly everything I need to know, but NOT how the string wraps onto the wheel.

 

It's a matter of arguing with the laws of physics.

take a look here loads of diagrams Dial Cord Stringing Guide looks like the string goes around the outside through on of the gaps and is tied to the plastic lumps in the middle

So, I managed to get it around the wheel, not perfect, it was working, but something still gone wrong. I have a good hands-on the video I published and the unit.
