ChrisH Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Were not on 11 meg, we get about 2 at best from our dish
GrumbleDook Posted November 29, 2005 Author Posted November 29, 2005 Luxury ... when I wert lad we had nothin' but 2 old tin cans a length of string. Then we grew up and sold it to C&W and became dotcom millionaires! (sorry ... couldn't resist!)
Dos_Box Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 @Ashok. Our pricing comes directly from the schools budget, and not one part of our setup is profit making. Our service providers (both support and network) are either local govt or university based . @ChrisH. Are you sure? we are having problems wth our firewall at the moment which may account for perceived speed problems.
Ric_ Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 ChrisH is in a lovely hilly area Ours works nice and fast
ChrisH Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Yes we are next to pendle hill on a 22 meg wireless link which is bounced of all and sundry d/l speeds are at the 2 meg level mostly with the odd freakish higher d/l rate. Tis very slow.
Dos_Box Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Still, it's a beutiful part of the country and you have a nice view whilst waiting for pages to load. For those of you in the inner cities, here is the view he has to suffer. http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/ewm/001ewm/lg/NwPendleSheepVw4223.jpg And he complains!!
ChrisH Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Yes but to see that view I have to look out of the window stood on a chair to look over the PE block
adamyoung Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Anyone having filtering problems on EMBC at the min? Originally they said it was just our site and it had never happened before, then they said it was a few sites - i dont think they're quite sure!!! They keep blocking Search Engines as part of the default block settings, then it stops for a few hours or even days and then the problem reoccurs. The support don't return calls, dont update you and today they said they cant give and update until after 1pm because they cant ring NetSweeper as they're in Canada, and then they might not be able to give us a call back because they might be too busy - nice to feel like a valued customer!

Ask to use another proxy server if they keep stuffing that one up. There are multiple ones within Netlinc with different levels of blocking. Some are incredibly "loose".

Not far away from you Chris and our Broadband is wireless, I wouldn’t complain to much if we got 2Mb but on fast days we get closer to 1.5 and this has also been hived out to two local primary schools who connect to our internet feed via DSL links. Our RBC should be supplying 8Mb according to their website they fulfil these government requirements?
