OWA being blocked by BHO add ons policy

Hi all

 

We've just implemented a GPO to block all BHOs in IE, you know the annoying toolbar extensions etc. This was mainly because Adobe reader XI was causing problems and crashing IE9 (and 8) , also staff were adding all sorts of toolbar extensions which were messing up their computers.

We have used the GPO to Deny all Add-ons except ones in the Allow list. In the Allow list we have added the CLSID of Flash and Java, and all seems to be working - except it is now blocking OWA from opening.

Ive had a search around MS and t'internet and cant find any specific CLSID's for OWA, though I suspect it might be something else?

 

Anyone else had any experience of this or ideas where to look?

What happens when you hit the OWA site?

We get a message saying you need to enable ActiveX controls as they have been block by Administrator - however, I can't find specifically which ones are for OWA.

Does it work if you add the CLSID for Silverlight to the list?

Silverlight is used for attaching files in OWA.
