mdench Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 We upgraded our sims and fms to the latest release yesterday and had several staff in today who went to use it and we found that it wont attempt an upgrade when they are logged they are just presented with the sims login box and then an mismatched database error when they try to login. If a domain admin then logs in and clicks on sims or fms then they both upgrade straight away with no issues. This hasn't happened with previous releases of sims / fms and we were just wondering if anyone else has had any issues similar to this?
GilRil Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I have seen this before, I theink they don't have full access to the Porgram Files\Sims .net folder so they cant do the update we have used a batch file called SimsPrem which comes from Capita and it assigns the permissions to the sims .bet folder on the local pc

Ghostgame Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Have seen this issue alot when schools deploy releases. Quick fix is to run SIMS or FMS application setup to bring the module version inline with the database version. Might be the user permissions on the setups folder or their user profile does not have permissions to run .exe's.

truebluesteve Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Have only just seen this topic, but we have this problem whenever we upgrade SIMs. When SIMS is launched from a shortcut on the task bar or on the desktop, you get an "incompatible database" error. Running SIMS from the SIMS Applications folder in All Programs runs the update fine.
