Hmm.. so has the "Control Panel" been "modern-ised" as well now?

 

That style of control panel is available in W8 to but there were still little bits missing which this has added, I'm sure that like 8 the legacy control panel will still be around with all the settings available.

 

I'm hopeing they make the metro start screen resizable.

Yeah sorry meant - has the old style been totally replaced with its modern ui cousin - a la the start menu -> start screen

 

I'd like to see an integration of something like Start8 so that the Start Screen is, as you say, resizable of at least not full screen

The amount of times I catch a hot corner by mistake and end up with the damn thing taking over is untrue...

Annoying at the best of times, but I audibly yell when it happens when you are watching something

 

Oh and the fact that if you have something open on a second screen then minimise it (RDP for example) and then reopen it - it defaults to the primary screen

In my case of RDP - Primary is a widescreen 16:9 and my secondary is a 4:3 whcih I find better for RDP... - So when this happens my RDP screen gets all messed up :|

What I would like is, when using multiple monitors (as I do), is to be able to 'tear off' Metro apps and place them on other displays. I don't want to be restricted to running apps on a single display. It doesn't make W8 very usable in the office space with it's 'one-or-the-other' design.

 

*This is where someone tells me that you can actually do this.

Very lame if they make people pay for this as was originally planned. If those screenshots are showing the biggest changes there's no really new features, just fixes that should've been in the initial release.

 

Basically, the new search, which is disabled in the leaked Windows Blue build, does away with having to pick from either Apps, Settings, or Files. Windows 8.1 should allow users to simply type in a search string to find anything inside the OS

 

Haha this was one of the things that really irritated me about the Win8 search, looks like MS have finally seen the light :p

Having used W8 for a while on my VM...I quite like the metro interface. Remove EVERYTHING not needed, keep icons you need, job done. Where is the issue? :-/

 

I've got a dual boot on my work laptop and seem to be using 8 at least 75% of the time now, only switching to 7 for VM work as it's on the larger partition. Might just start again with the Win8 restore discs they bundled in the box. The only thing that really irritates me is having to lose focus from the program I'm working on to start another one, still hope Blue has some sort of slide-out search bar for apps then I'll be sorted :p

The primary thing they need to do to get it onto networks is make it manageable, Just starting a fresh reimage with Office 2013 and the post sp1 hotfixes integrated. If I could have managed the start screen it would have been 8 but I can't so it will be Blue - IF - it is actually manageable. Sure we use 8 on the tablets but for general consumption it is not there.

I've gotta say I've settled into Windows 8 better than I thought I would.

Once you know how to get round Modern UI it's not that dissimilar to the Win7 Start Menu other than the obvious full screen UI change.

The "Search" functions the same way if not slightly more intuitive.

 

Don't get me wrong though - there are a fair few aspects I don't like - The hot-corners are a PITA under RDP or a VM console session!

 

I still love Win 7 and use it on a variety of PCs here due to compatibility issues (IE 10 being one with UAG).
