Microsoft Volume licensing End date question

A bit confused by something at the moment, hopefully one of you can shed some light on this....

 

In the past when we've renewed it's been for a one year basis and the end date on our licensing relationship summary has shown an expiry date of pretty much exactly 1 year after the renewal date. This time though, we renewed on the 31-12-2012 and our expiry date is showing up as 31-12-2015....does this mean we're covered for 3 years!? We only had a quote for 1 year as we have done previously as far as I'm aware....

 

In all previous years we've been quoted and paid in the exact same way, as shown below by the expiry dates up until the most recent active subscription....

End Date: 2015-12-31 Active Open Value Subscription

End Date: 2013-02-28 Expired Open Value Subscription

End Date: 2012-02-29 Expired Open Value Subscription

 

Any ideas? Have microsoft changed anything with their subscriptions recently?

Looks like your on a 3 year subscription, on 3 year subscriptions you still pay annually, just cheaper pricing.

that would make sense but i just don't understand why we've always paid per 1 year previously. It was only £40 cheaper this year than last year! So no major savings lol. Plus we weren't tied into paying for it from the same company for the next 3 years or anything...

It wasn't Softcat by any chance was it because that has happened to us this time, all the quotes were for 12 months etc then I notciced like you the end date was 2015 and MS say we are tied into the agreement (they will let us swap suppliers but cost will be the same).

 

I have Pugh fighting this for us as we can save over 2K by signing up the eduserv agreement but I won't hold my breath

Can't remember who we went through but it was most likely phoenix or greymatter, what's this eduserv agreement you speak of? I think our licensing was somewhere between 4k and 5k for a 118 FTE.

Eduserv agreements are for FE establishments \ charity \ governmen bodies \ councils and give us reduced pricing on certain software agreements subject to signing up to them.

 

With MS they do an EES agrrement and a select agreement. The cost per year is £360 but that will save us over £2k per year on the desktop agreement compared to what we are paying currently based on 450 FTE's
