starscream Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 I am wanting to install Knowledge box and it's dependencies (Acrobat, quicktime etc) quickly onto all our machines. Knowledgebox comes with an installation batch file that uses hot keys to automate the installation of the programs etc.. I believe this means that I can't simply run the .bat file on each client from a pre log on. I think I need to have every machine logged on and then run this batch file. Is there a way to mass log on every computer in school with say a manager username and password so that I can run this batch file?
ChrisH Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 You could use this script to set auto logon for whichever account you want: 'This script sets the default Domain and the autologon name and password 'This script is meant to be run from the cmdlines.txt file. Option Explicit Dim ws Set ws = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") Dim strKeyPath strKeyPath = "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\" ws.RegWrite strKeyPath & "AutoAdminLogon", "1", "REG_SZ" ws.RegWrite strKeyPath & "AutoLogonCount", "1", "REG_SZ" ws.RegWrite strKeyPath & "DefaultPassword", "yourpassword", "REG_SZ" ws.RegWrite strKeyPath & "DefaultUserName", "Administrator", TO remove theses details 'This script sets the default Domain and the autologon name and password 'This script is meant to be run from the cmdlines.txt file. Option Explicit Dim ws Set ws = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") Dim strKeyPath strKeyPath = "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\" ws.RegWrite strKeyPath & "AutoAdminLogon", "0", "REG_SZ" ws.RegWrite strKeyPath & "AutoLogonCount", "0", "REG_SZ" ws.RegWrite strKeyPath & "DefaultPassword", "", "REG_SZ" ws.RegWrite strKeyPath & "DefaultUserName", "", Use the first script as a startup script and then when you are done use the other as a startup and shutdown script to make sure it runs.

Just a thought but you could always get the MSI's for the various dependencies for Kbox and install them over GPO.. that way you can control updates a little better.
Ric_ Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 I have a script that installs some of these dependancies when I RIS machines... maybe you could list the software required and we could give you ways to do the silent installs.
