No idea what to do here - tried different paper, tried to check if anything is jammed - nothing seems to be there. Feeds ok from tray 1, but not tray 2, this is where it jams everytime.

From above - nothing is coming through

I have tried everything except just buying a new printer!

Hope someone can help!

Thanks.

Check that there wasn't a previous paper jam and they tore the paper getting it out - there might be a sliver of torn paper still in the roller transport mechanism that is causing the paper to jam.

Hi Tech guy - I have checked and checked but can't find anything -

I have tried pushing a piece of folded paper through to make sure the path is clear - it goes through fine in the centre, but is quite difficult to get through at the sides, but not sure if that is because the rollers aren't spinning to help.

Any ideas of other ways to check for jammed paper?

Only visually. The other thing is that it might be the tray not feeding the paper up correctly - do you have another 4100 or similar that you can swap the tray from?

Failing that, it could be that the pick-up roller is worn - you can usually get a replacement from various websites for less than a tenner.

You can try rubbing the pick-up roller with some fine sandpaper first, with cheap paper the roller gets covered in lacquer and looses it's friction grip of the paper. A quick rub will roughen up the roller again and the paper will pick-up properly. We quite often service our printers like this and it makes a massive difference.
