I've heard of degaussing. Is it something to do with these new fangled crt monitors? When the punch card was replaced with time sharing, we used LA36 DECwriter II's Never had to degauss those. Bring back 15x11 stationery!

Handset coupler? Couldn't get one to work with the family Trimphone. Micronet 800 was just a dream for me....

i remember my first printer being an old ibm daisywheel noisy big thing that was.

owned various since atart st, amiga 600, amiga 1200, amiga 4000, p120 then various pcs/laptops since

 

atm got a dreamcast hooked up to the tv for some oldish games (got a lot of the megadrive/snes ones on xbox/wii arcade and sold those consoles years ago)

 

wasnt a modem which used the handset an acoustic coupler? as seen iirc in ferris bulers day off and wargames

When you remember having to manually key in a hex bootloader in order to bootstrap the operating system, which was then loaded from punched paper cards, in order to boot up a mainframe that you then interacted with using a telex style keyboard and printer.

 

I can't remember the hex key sequence, but I remember that once it had booted you had to type in [ctrl-y]TT[ctrl-Y] to tell it to start listening to the telex keyboard.
