Here MS state which sql servers are supported for SCCM 2012 SP1. Anybody know if one is recommended above the others? Is 2008 R2 SP2 the best option as its a mature product. Or is SQL 2012 with sp1 better, but is newer? During testing I've used sql 2008 r2 sp1 with cum update 6

We have it on 2008 R2, at the time there was no 2012. I would go with SQL 2012 SP1 on Windows Server 2012. Saves a job doing upgrades later on. I am currently getting SCSM ready for the first rounds of tests and im going with those options.

SQL server itself is a mature product, i shouldn't image you will have issues with 2012.

There is no recommend path from MS. Just keep to whats is supported.
