mdrabble Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 After scratching my head, resetting my ipad several times I'd thought I would turn to here for help. I have set up Profile Manager on Lion (10.7) using a self signed certificate. Apple has generated the Push Certificate etc..... Ports have been opened etc..... so I'm reasonably happy that side of things. I Connect to Profile Manager using /mydevices - I log in, click on the Profile tab and install the Trust Profile. I then click on the Devices tab and click on enroll. I install the enrollment profile and think job done! I go to Profile Manager and nothing shows up! I go back to the ipad remove the Enrollement Profile and suddenly it appears in Profile Manager with the Ipad name and a blank square at the side. I've tried using Apple Configurator to install all the profiles. In Profile Manager it show under the Enrollement Profile that ipad used the Profile to enroll but again nothing shows under devices unless I remove the enrollment profile from the ipad. Any one got any ideas on what i am doing wrong? Many thanks in advance A very confused Mark
Rozzer Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Are you using a proxy? I have found that you need to have a proxy exception in for you mac server which can only be done with a pac file. Best way to test is to remove the proxy settings and see how it gets on. Ross
mdrabble Posted February 26, 2013 Author Posted February 26, 2013 Thank for replying Ross, I have narrowed it down to smoothwall blocking the ports. I set sever and ipad with exceptions and they worked fine. I just need to figure out how to allow smoothwall to play nicely now :-)
Rozzer Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Your not alone.. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/internet-related-filtering-firewall/104938-apple-profile-manager-push-settings-not-working-being-quashed-smoothwall.html Ross
MrBen85 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Hi Mark, I'm about to embark on this shortly and just wondered if you have any tips/tricks to getting it all set up? I'm practically stuck at the first hurdle though as acquiring the apple push certificate is proving to be an issue. Did you have any problems? cheers, Ben
mdrabble Posted February 26, 2013 Author Posted February 26, 2013 Hi Ben Are you using 10.7 or 10.8? 10.7 - you can follow this guide Setting Up Profile Manager in Lion Server | Krypted.com 10.8 - you can follow this guide Configuring & Using Profile Manager 2 in OS X Mountain Lion Server | Krypted.com HTH, Mark
Rozzer Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 If I were you I would scrap profile manager and go for Meraki. Ross
