L300 Dim Display

I have got a laptop, a tosh L300 which has a dim display (the backlight isnt working). I have taken the laptop apart, found the VGA cable to the monitor which also powers the inverter. I fi remove the VGA cable and reseat it the display is on for about 30 seconds is and then the backlight dies.

 

I have replaced teh inverter as i thought this was the problem and now i am thinking its a bit more serious than that.

 

Before i say this laptop is screwed can anyone else thing of things to try...

ill test it, will need to swap the screens over.

Thanks, fiddley task but you are right, the screen is broken.

The backlights are cold cathode tubes and site in channels on each side or above and below the panel you can get replacement tubes.

Hmmmm, will have another look later, though im going to see if it still has warranty which i should have checked before... Ooops.

Screens are only £30-£40 new.

I wish they were. I have just got a like for like model price for this screen... £150 ish..

 

I too thought they would be as cheap as chips

Still not exactly cheap, but £82 on Toshiba Satellite L300 where we get our normal spares. Still dearer than I'd like though!

Its not a L300, i thought it was... its a L450... D'oh... though i had, had a very stressfull week.

Ouch yeah, the 450's are ~£115 ExVAT..

One of my suppliers has managed to get one for me for £81.00 so alls good. Should be here tomorrow too.
