fiza Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Vertu Launches The £7,000 Smartphone If I had one I would probably end up leaving it on the bus. Then again if I could afford one of those I would probably not be using the bus!!!
SamanthaJane Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I can't understand how people can spend all that money on something which will go out of date! I can't imagine getting a free upgrade in 18 months!
korifugi Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Read about this on el reg - It's not 4G capable. Why? - are they worried about keeping costs down?
X-13 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Read about this on el reg - It's not 4G capable. Why? - are they worried about keeping costs down? Nah, they're releasing a 4G/LTE version in a few months with an increased price. You need the non 4G/LTE version to make the 4g/LTE one look better. I wonder if I could get one from the school... For testing purposes.
HaleStorm Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Spending so much money on something that is ALREADY out of date. Its the same internals as my 2year old HTC sensation
Earthling Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I would think that if you could afford seven grand on a smartphone, you wouldn't worry about it being outmoded or superceded. You'd just buy a new one. I would anyway.

Bromcom_John Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Wouldn't this defeat the object though. Aren't the "bragging" rights with smartphones that you've got the latest bit of tech not the most expensive bit of tech. Surely the sort of people your looking to impress with your smart phone are exactly the sort of people who're going to poo poo your £7000 phone because its not the latest iGimmick.

No....that's not the case at all. People who are seriously rich don't give a XXXX what others think. The statement is in the shineyness of it. The technical gubbins does not matter to them. You rarely see someone who is THAT wealthy sitting around updating twitter, or posting to facebook. They have more "important" things to do.....Like make more money! My 2penneth, having worked in Mayfair casinos in a former life!
Garacesh Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Specs aren't so great. It's already 'out-of-date'. No 4G. But it's expensive and - here's the most important bit - it looks pretty cool. I doubt I'll be buying one but I do like the look of it.
