edie209 Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Split from a topic in another section ChrisH Would that be a Motorcycle??
ChrisH Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Yes too many hills round here for pedal power .
CyberNerd Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 what bike do you have ? I have a VFR750 these days
edie209 Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 I worked in bike industry before I got some sense and turned to IT. I was involved with Geoff Johnsons GPz900R production class win at the Isle of Man in 1984........ now that makes me feel old. I have a mint GPz600R
ChrisH Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I have a Kawasaki ER-5. Only had my licence 6 months. I quiete fancy a VFR next year though when I have a bit of money spare. Ps will split this bit off
CyberNerd Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I have a Kawasaki ER-5 Good all-rounder I do find the VFR a bit expensive on tyres/fuel/maintenance. Especially doing 50mile per day all year round - so it's probably not in quite as good condition as edie's GPz. Will get a car license on day...
ChrisH Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Yup I got it as it was recommended as a good first 'big' bike. My dad has a few bikes as well he has : Yamaha R1 Honda CBX Harley Electra glide Honda CB 900 R1 and CBX are for sale to good homes both mint .
edie209 Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 God I have had a few not boasting but here goes Yanmaha FSIE BSA C15 Kawasaki Z250 Honda CB440F Honda XL250R Kawasaki Z650C Kawasaki Z750L Kawasaki GPz750zx Kerker ZX750 Yamaha RD350YPVS Suzuki X7 Yamaha RD350LC Yamaha RD250LC Honda CB250RS Yamaha RD125LC Yamaha RD400E (monoshock) Kawasaki GPz600R and if you a laugh here is me and the Z750 way back in the 80's here
CyberNerd Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 have to think about this... TS50 RD125LC TS125 RG250 Gamma X2 AR125 X5 RGV250 VFR400R Nc24 CX500 VFR400R Nc30 Transalp 600 VFR750 Almost had a 350LC, but just missed that era and went down the gamma/RGV path and then to the 400 greys.
edie209 Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 CX500..... I blew one of them up good and proper only problem I was on my way to Newquay and I didn't get there, bike wasn't evan mine come to that. But that was the advantage of working in a bike shop.
CyberNerd Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 phreaky The reason I came to owning the CX was because I borrowed it for a trip from kent to Newquay, Luckily I did get to Newquay but blew it up on the return trip! (via Bristol on the M4 IIRC) Big end went, I bought it of the mate who lent me it, and had to rebuild it. Particularly strange coincidence as they have a reputation of being bullet proof!
edie209 Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 Guess what....... it was the big end on the one I was on, and yeh you are right normally they are bullet proof must be the Newquay air
bossman Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Yammaha FSIE Honda XL250R Yamaha RD350LC Kawasaki Z900 Honda VFR750 Honda RC30 fully race tuned (freddy merkel colours) good for 185mph (back from Knockhill, racing ducati and fireblade. Then Mrs got wind of it and forced me to choose between bike or the her and the kids, really hard choice (miss the bike like crazy)
CyberNerd Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 RC30 or wife and kids... she must be something special
edie209 Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 RC30.....drools, I rode one once what a machine.
ajbritton Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 OK, get ready for a good laugh... 1st bike - RD350LCII good start 2nd bike - Kawasaki ZX6R looking promising Now - Honda Dylan 125
Fedaykin Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I have a friend who used to have an RC30, lovely piece of kit in all respects! As for me I have an SV650S K5 which is a joy.
PageZ Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Don't have a bike now - too old, too slow, too fat and still barmy .... bad mix. However Garelli Tiger Cross Garelli Rekord Honda CB200 Suzuki 250 Hustler Suzuki 250 GT Honda CB400/4 Triumph Bonneville 750 America Honda CB750 K2 Honda CB750 K4 (Yoshimura 812 conversion) Suzuki GS750 Honda CB 750 K2 Suzuki GS 400 Honda VF 750 Ktm 550 Suzuki X7 Kawasaki GPZ1100 Unitrack (wish I had never sold it...) Rickman CB750 Honda (endurance style) Kawasaki GPZ 900R A6 Cheers Neil PS - I have a mate with an RC30 in the garage and he NEVER rides it now..... Won't sell it though....
Elky Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 As for me I have an SV650S K5 which is a joy. Exactly what I'm buying at the end of the month. Only 2900 on the clock and getting it off a mate for a steal at £2k! I can prob ride it to work and back (75 miles per day)for a year and still sell it for more than I'm buying it for!
TechMonkey Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Test tomorrow! No idea what to get though. Been riding around on a ER-5 which is nice so may try and pick one of them up or go for an ER-6.
ChrisH Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Everybody will be scrambling to do their test this year before the new test comes in no doubt I am still on my Kawasaki ZR7-S my previous and first bike was an ER-5. It was good for my extended learning but you still get done by a half decent car.
TechMonkey Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 I keep hearng people mention the new test, any idea what it involves or what the changes are? ER-6 it may be. Also while I'm asking silly questions is it possible to get a full screen without getting a fairing? My bike will probably be my long distance runner so I want comfort but do keep being told that if I get a fairing and drop it there is going to be much crying by me. My head gets buffeted enough as it is when I go on dual carriages so not really wanting a naked bike!
TechMonkey Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Well watch the roads! Passed with 3 minors, a wobble, a mirror check and too slow, so am on the look out and shoudl hopefully be up and running soon
Elky Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Congrats mate Had my test yesterday too and passed with 1 minor! He said I hesitated at a junction! Picking up an SV650S Saturday - cant wait!!! Well chuffed
TechMonkey Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Well done as well You'll have to let me know how it is as I've been looking at one of them too, though not the S. Are you going brand new or second hand?
