As part of my continuing investigation as to why Samsung N130s don't play well with Ruckus, I installed Netmeter on a couple of them and downloaded a large file from the server onto one of them - it said it was going to take 30 mins to transfer 144MB and Netmeter was indicating average DL speed of about 100kBS.

While this transfer was taking place, I tried downloading the same file onto the other netbook and the first one shot up to about 1.5MBs (and the second one also indicating this speed)

So - one laptop on its own - 100kBS - 2 laptops together 1.5MBs.

Anyone got any sort of rational explanation.

I can repeat this test on demand.

Have you tried updating the wireless drivers on the laptops?

We've had a fair few problems with WPA2 encryption and old wireless drivers.... after an update it suddenly works amazingly!

Sorry - there are many threads on my woes with N130s and Ruckus :)

I was just wondering what on earth could cause this sort of behaviour. :(

I dont run it with any encryption (as a temp measure - been going at this now for a year!)

Just for comparison, I ran same test at another school with Futjistsus and a Buffalo WHR-G54 AP and got 2.2MBs with one laptop dropping to 1.3MBs when I started the download on another one at the same time.

Which is much more normal :)
