Student IT welcome handout \ guide

Hi there,

 

I am being asked to produce a brief overview of our systems that we can give to new students which explains things like:

 

• How to log into the network
  
• How to log into Google Apps for education
  
• How to access homework via Google Classroom
  
• How to check email (via GMAIL).
  

 

Has anyone else done anything similar and would you be happy to share it with me? (Saves reinventing the wheel).

That looks amazing, what is the site built on?

 

Is that aimed at both students and staff?!

Site looks like it is built on Google Sites.

Yes, built in Google Sites. We primarily use Firefly as our VLE, however GS has a much cleaner interface and better layout control. Staff have a seperate IT induction page built in Firefly which is similar in nature, I can add it to my to do list to post a screen capture if that will help?

Is your site a college, just wondering why you have a connecting to projectors for students?!

Nursery - Sixth Form. Senior school is fully BYOD for all students, where some teachers allow students to connect to classroom projectors, a lot of which are wireless which helps.

Yes vide is working, that's a great site you've got and I suspect it deals with a lot easy issues you get early on with new starters etc.

 

We've got a lot of guides and information but it's not in a place that's accessible for staff or students, you've given me an idea to at least to attempt something similar.
