W32tm Time - having problems

We are experiencing a problem with some of our servers' time.

 

Some are ahead and some are behind. I have tried alsorts of commands with the w32tm command but nothing seems to be working. Most are not looking at the PDC instead looking at a DC/DNS server.

 

Here is what i have got

 

SERVER-1 (a member server) is pointing to SERVER-4

SERVER-2 (a DC) is pointing to SERVER-4

SERVER-3 (a member server) is pointing to SERVER-2

SERVER-4 (a DC/DNS) is pointing to LOCAL CMOS CLOCK

SERVER-5 (a member server) is pointing to ONE OF OUR NEW VMs which is a DC

SERVER-6 (a DC/DNS) is pointing to LOCAL CMOS CLOCK

SERVER-7 (a DC/PDC) is pointing to SERVER-4

SERVER-8 (a member) is pointing to SERVER-4

 

If i try to run the /manualpeerlist it says the command was successful but nothing is changing in the configuration.

 

Can anyone help please.

I think ive just found a script here http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows/106128-sync-pc-dc-time.html#post909416 which is setting the peers for me.

are any of them virtual?

 

I've had a shedload of issues with this recently with guests being set to sync time with 0.uk.pool.ntp.org and not doing it because they were unable to sync time with anything other than their physical host, which was set to sync time with pdc which was a guest!!. When I set our hosts to sync time with 0.uk.pool.ntp.org the guests automagically came inline with them.

None of them are virtual at the moment however ive just set my 2 Hyper-V hosts to look at 0/1/2.uk.pool.ntp.org. I am planning on making the PDC look at the hosts so then the rest of the machines will hopefully get the right time.. if that's the right way to do it.
