Technical Consultant Role

 

Nexus Associates is an IT consultancy that has been specialising in consultancy in the IT arena for over 15 years, predominantly for new building programmes for the government many of which are in the education arena, developing the infrastructure requirements to allow for high speed networks in the new environment that will also support legacy solutions to be re-used from the existing IT solutions in the clients’ existing environments.

 

This requires knowledge of the latest technology solutions as well an understanding of a broad range of technologies, to allow us to support our clients to develop an ICT rich environment from an initial building design through to the technical implementation and beyond.

 

Job Description

 

We are recruiting someone who has experience working in a technical solutions development role predominantly around switching and wireless design. In this role the successful candidate will travel to a range of clients located in the mid to Southern regions of the UK are therefore would ideally need live centrally to be able to travel to meetings in these regions and therefore must have a full driving licence and access to a car. There will also be an occasional requirement to travel UK wide. When not onsite you will be able to work from home to complete activities as required to meet project deadlines.

 

Our consultants frequently work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, working alongside Architects, Construction and Engineering Specialists, and technical specialists from our clients teams blending into a delivery team to meet our client’s aspirations. document and present our findings and recommendations and develop these into a specifications that we ultimately will implement for the client via our delivery team.

 

Our candidate must have proven skills in Information Technology and be willing to develop their skills as industry changes dictate. We are looking for an individual who is self-disciplined, a self-starter and who is happy to take the initiative when given the opportunity and ask for support when needed. We need someone who is:

 

• Able to demonstrate a design competency in a wide range of infrastructure technology

• Presentable, personable and confident working with a wide a wide range of people

• Able to organise themselves and their tasks

• Attention to detail with the confidence and ability to present information in reports and at meetings

• Effective time management

• Able to work individually, as well as in a team

 

 

Ideally the successful will have demonstrable experience of the following:

• IT building impact

• IT Strategy Development – taking the clients vision into a practical programme of work

• Infrastructure design

o Passive & Active

o Wireless (Heat Mapping)

o Network Management

o Server Solutions

o Telephony

o Apple, Android and Microsoft client solutions

o Mobile Device Management

• Project Management of ICT solutions

• Government compliant procurement

• IT process such as ITIL/FITS

 

When not onsite you will be able to work from home to complete activities as required to meet project deadlines.

 

Desirable Skills

• Networking & Comms solution design: HP/Cisco/Dell Accreditations in Networking Technologies

• New Build experience – such as a previous role as a Network Manager having gone through a new build/refurbishment programme

 

The candidate must have a driving licence, access to a vehicle and be willing to travel to clients sites.
