SMART Notebook licensing guide (2014 onwards)

Hi Folks,

 

Since VeryPC are Certified SMART Authorised Resellers, we wanted to share some important information regarding changes to the licensing of SMART Notebook™ collaborative learning software. From April 2014 onward, SMART have changed to a subscription based model for the software called "SMART Notebook Advantage", which is based on the number of interactive classrooms using SMART Notebook in your establishment. Old SMART Notebook software will continue to work, but to stay up to date with software support and the latest updates and features, you will now need to take out a SMART Notebook Advantage subscription.

 

Here's a quick guide to SMART Notebook and SMART Notebook Advantage licensing to help you avoid the pitfalls and stay up to date, with links to more detailed info on our website and in downloadable form at the bottom of the post:

 

What are SMART Notebook and Advantage?

• SMART Notebook is the interactive teaching/learning software from SMART.
  
• SMART Notebook Advantage is the subscription service that gives you access to updates, software support and advanced features.
  
• You need one SMART Notebook licence per interactive classroom in which you intend to use the software.
  
• Older versions of SMART Notebook can be upgraded to the current version by subscribing to Advantage.
  

For SMART and non-SMART hardware

• New SMART interactive hardware comes with SMART Notebook plus one year’s subscription to SMART Notebook Advantage.
  
• You can purchase the SMART Notebook software separately to use with non-SMART interactive hardware.
  
• Separate purchases of SMART Notebook come with either 1 or 3 year’s subscription to Advantage.
  

Site licencing

• A SMART Notebook site licence will save you money on Advantage subscriptions.
  
• A site with ALL SMART interactive hardware qualifies for site licencing.
  
• Sites with non-SMART interactive hardware can qualify for site licencing by purchasing SMART Notebook for all non-SMART interactive classrooms.
  

 

SMART Notebook Advantage subscriptions are available for between £12 - £34 per interactive classroom per year, depending on quantity and site status.
