Can anyone tell me what the reality is of teachers and schools using and getting hold of Digital Learning Resources (images, audio, worksheets, entire courses, anything). Sticking with the open spirit of this site, I need to say I am doing some research for Becta looking at this issue. So far we have found a lot of material saying teachers ought to do this, ought to do that, and so on but nothing on what really happens in classrooms or what teaching and school technical support really need. You can contribute to the Becta forum and see the initial report on Becta collaboration: Community: Digital learning resources Alternatively, use this forum to give us a view of reality. Terry Keefe

Hello All, A colleague has presented me with an interesting problem. he is the Lab Technician responsible for prepping all the practical experiments for the Science teachers. They want to make a system that makes requests pop into a shared calendar so he can prep materials and see what is needed at a glance. The "cut-off" period for requesting practical materials is 48hrs before the practical takes place. However not all teachers adhere to this and sessions pop up in the shared calendar after the cut off time. He wants to make it that teachers can only book resources more than 48hrs in advance IE if they try to book resources after the deadline they get an automated response denying the request and they have to go and grovel to him in person. I know there is a way to limit how far in advance you can book a resource (180 days being the default) but I've looked for a "deadline" type setting with no success, even powershell to alter permissions doesn't seem like it will work. Any suggestions? Many thanks!

Hi Folks, I'm looking for recommended and tried sources of downloadable resource content such as Cliparts, flashfiles etc for use with any Interactive Whiteboard. Prefearbly Education filtered if possible searchable by year and subject. Manythanks

Hi, we are looking at investing in Doddle Resources, mainly for revision initially. Does anybody already use? How do you find it? Have Staff/students found it useful? Any feedback appreciated Thanks Chris

In preparation for the launch of the Raspi, I've been looking around on the intertubes for useful python tutorials (I'm a n00b). Here are a few I think are worth sharing (I'm focusing on game programming, but everything is welcome) A very well written set of tutorials using Pygame, in an object-oriented-programming style An introduction to PyQt4 - currently the only way to get openGL acceleration using Python on the Raspi (I think) A Programmer’s Introduction to Python (free online e-book) “Invent Your Own Computer Games with Python” (free e-book) How to Think Like a Computer Scientist: Learning with Python (PDF)
