Some of primary schools have purchased HP MSM 720 Wireless controllers to add onto their wireless network of either MSM310, MSM410 or MSM430 APs to provide guest access. The standard setup in schools is a 2008 R2 DC, HP Layer 2 switches (all traffic on VLAN1) and an EMBC internet connection going through their proxy servers. I have set up the main school wireless network using radius and this works fine but am struggling setting up the Guest network. I have Googled but only seem to find HP guides which are not very user friendly or helpful. It looks like you have to create a guest VLAN on your switch and tag the ports with the wireless controller and APs connected and tell the controller which vlan the guest is on which I have done. The controller will then NAT the guest traffic to allow it onto the internet. I have managed to setup the guest ssid using the workflow and setup DHCP on the controller for the guest network and when I connect to the guest ssid I get an address on the controllers dhcp range and get a logon page and authenticate on the guest network but can't browse the internet with the proxy details entered into the browser. The second part of my problem will be providing the proxy details transparently, we have used WPAD successfully with the Ruckus systems will this work with the HP system? On older HP controllers (Pre-Colubris) we have had to use an IPCOP box to route traffic and put in the transparent proxy for the guest systems. Any help or idiots guide would be greatly appreciated. Hi I want to create a guest network and arent sure which way to go about it. We currently have multiple access points D-Link DWL-8600AP and a D-Link 3024L Controller. The access points are across the network and connected to different switches in different rooms. The controller is in a central cabinet along with the main network core switch. At the moment we have one SSID secured with WPA which is used by internal laptops. My question is how would I go about creating a guest SSID and VLAN it so that the guest traffic is routed to the router remembering that the router is in another cabinet than the core switch and the access points are also connected to multiple switches in different locations. Is that at all possible? Any help appreciated.

Hi All, Just tweaking a Ruckus setup to enable self service to guests - all was going well. Emails hitting sponsors for approval as required, but when the sponsors open the emails the links to approve the guest pass are IP based causing a certificate error which will deter a lot of users from the service and imply something is wrong with the setup as they are receiving warnings. It will put a block in the way for the users which from my experience causes poor adoption. Does anyone know of a way to get the link emailed to sponsors DNS based? The certificate on the ruckus is wild-carded and signed by third party so would work if happily if we could resolve this behavior. Images below show link sent, what users see in browser & what I'd like to achieve. Any suggestions welcome, thanks guys (ZoneDirector 3050, 9.12.2.0 build 219)
