As part of the action we're taking on the climate crisis and working towards getting our organisation to net zero, we want to start a pilot programme of monitoring energy usage in certain areas of the college. Initially we were thinking of using equipment similar to the emonTx/emonPi (e.g. see here: https://shop.openenergymonitor.com/energy-monitoring/) with clip-on CT sensors that can clip on to the distribution board cables in the area we want to monitor. However we want to make sure we look around at other alternatives as well and I was wondering what equipment other organisations use for this? Key points are: We need something that can feed the data into a central database so it can be queried and reported on - so something that's just a portable meter with an LCD display is no good. As it's just a pilot programme, we don't want anything that's invasive and requires actually wiring in to the electrical circuit by an electrician - hence the clip-on CT sensors When searching I did come across IoTaWatt as well but this seems to be an America-only system, does anyone know of any others? Thanks, Dan Jackson (Network & Systems Engineer) Long Road Sixth Form College Cambridge, UK.

Before anyone shouts at me for not noticing the solution for, what might be, a simple problem, I haven't been working with Macs for long at all, I prefer Windows . However, the problem is; We have a medium size Mac network with an Xserve with Leopard (10.5.4) and about 50 client iMacs also with leopard (10.5.5) and are currently trying to set all the clients to shut down every evening using the workgroup manager on the Xserve, but when I return in the morning they are all still awake. All the clients are in groups for the departments the are used in (Music and Art for example). I have not only set the energy saving schedule in each machine group, but have also set the schedule for each indevidual machine in the workgroup manager, still doesn't want to know and stays on all night. The schedule hasn't been set on all the machines locally as I thought it would work just from the Xserve. Anyone know of this happening else where, or what could be going wrong?

Anyone heard of this? www.blackle.com it reckons if you use it instead of google you can save loads of energy as the black screen is less demanding. i kinda like the colours, but it's never gonna become a verb is it? it's not like Geek It or Google It interesting idea though...
