I am pulling me hair out trying to configure a separate VLAN to isolate a YouView Box from the rest of my home network and I am not having much luck. This may be a basic misunderstanding my me and I may have just create a bridge. I am using a BT Home Hub that does not support VLANS and it connects to my Cisco 220 switch where I am trying to configure VLANS.
I have two ports that connect my ADSL router to the Cisco 220 Switch - they are GE10 and GE13. My idea is that the default VLAN (VLAN 1) connects to the internet via GE10 and that works fine. My Youview box connects to GE9 so I thought I would isolate the YouView box, just giving it access to the internet by creating a VLAN with GE9 and GE13 in only and excluding those from VLAN 1. But as soon as I create my VLAN the YouView box is no longer capable of connecting to the broadband router.
Originally this started out as trying to solve the problem of the Youview box using multicasting and flooding my Sky Q box and causing Sky Q to stop working whenever I streamed on Youview. I have temporarily overcome that by disconnecting the GE9 and GE13 cables and connecting them via a separate Netgear switch. That stops the flooding but I can still ping the Youview box from my home network which suggests it is not isolated. A
Am I missing a fundamental point about the router - do I need the router to also support VLAN ? See config attached. Any help gratefully appreciated.
