Due to our recent VLE implementation we require a confident and personable VLE administrator to manage the system. Ideally you will have an awareness of Virtual Learning Environments, experience in providing technical support and be able to work under pressure alongside a dedicated team. Any experience of PHP, Flash or Adobe Photoshop would be advantageous, but is not essential. You will be required to administer our FROG VLE, provide support to teachers and students alike, conduct internal training to staff and ensure the platform is being used effectively across all departments. Hi Steve, Being brutally honest I don't think you will go wrong with FROG for those elements at all. We are a FROG customer and we're extremely happy with the quality of the product. Personally I see investment into FROG as investing into a concept and vision rather than a generic package, as it will grow with the needs and demands of the school. Secure gateway is fantastic, we currently have up to 70 students logging on remotely from home to access curriculum software as well as staff accessing SIM's. It is simple and works extremely well. The parental portal product is starting to look amazing with full SIM's integration and will be reporting a wealth of information from SIM's back to parents in addition to bringing in some of the web2.0 social networking concepts too. Sure, people talk about FROG as being expensive - but calculate the total cost of ownership over 4/5 years and it is a very different story. Hi All, We were also one of the initial pilot schools using the Event Elephant Service (Costello Technology College). It is an excellent service that provides schools with a no nonsense solution to engage the wider community group, particularly parents. With parental engagement set high on the agenda by the DCSF the system has really supported us in how we are engaging with our parents, some of whom are harder to reach than others. We have already used the service to notify parents of Parent focus group meetings as well as Y10 optin evenings - this has gone down very well with parents and as also streamlined school administration. We are thinking of many other school events that the service can be used for, both paid and free. Ideas include Option evenings, School Production, Adult Education Courses to name but a few.
