Never mind you can install it silently with /S and /L to prevent it running. I can check for this installation via a batch file "IF EXIST" before installing it but how can I get this to run at login without asking the user if they want to run the batch file? Different topic I know, I might post it somewhere else if nobody replies. cheers (yup working at the weekend)

Has anyone got an MSI for picasa?

I've only ever used workstation virtualisations for teaching myself/trying new things on my own computer. I've used vmware, micro$haft and currently using virtualbox. I'm not great when it comes to server virtualisation though, never done it. Can anyone point me in the right direction of any good tutorials?

No matter, I found a solution here. I unregistered and re-registered msiexec, seems to have done the trick.

This is doing my head in now. I recently migrated a new server for one of the primary schools complete with a ghosted image for the new workstations all around the school. The image was taken from an exisiting one and just updated before ghosting it out (I'm talking about the workstations here). The problem is now with a few of the programs when they are run they try to kick off an MSI installer, but they DO eventually run. Different machines are trying to run different installers (not their own msi by the way). E.g I run Information Workshop 2000 and it tries to run a PIPS installer. PIPS installer isn't even on the server anymore. I'm thinking this a registry issue cos I used an old image but I can't solve it. Server is Server2k3 sp2 and workstations are XP PRO SP3 Any ideas?

I was following the thread BETT Casio projector before it was closed by the admin so I never found the answer to my question. I keep seeing the new Casio projector advertised as 'lamp free technology'. Fair enough, it's a laser/led hybrid but I also see '20,000 hours without changing lamps' here. What have I missed here?

Hi All, Been watching these forums for a while but this is my first post, please go easy I think I'm possibly being paranoid but let's see what you all think. I work for a company who primarily look after a bunch of primary schools and my job is to visit each of these reguarly for maintenance visits. What I'm seeing is more and more teachers coming away from using their USB sticks and instead using google docs and office live for document storage. Apart from pictures, office type documents make up the majority of files stored on the servers. Projecting 5 years or so into the future - is the future for local file servers in our schools bleak? I'd like at some point to move to a role in a secondary or college. Currently in our Primary schools we don't use Exchange or Sharepoint etc but I guess secondaries and colleges would. With the future looking more and more cloud based, are Micro$haft Online Services and the like taking the bread and butter away from our jobs? Please tell me I'm just being paranoid.
