  1. This is great, thank you both. I had seen something about the SSAT, but I have tried to research what else is out there before making a final decision on one or other thing. It's good to get some feedback, much appreciated
  2. Something I've been wrestling with for a while...what specific qualifications / courses are there these days for a new School Data Manager/Officer who wants to have some kind of recognised accreditation to their name? Some of the data courses I've researched veer more into the computer science and programming areas, and nothing at all to do with analysis of school data. I could take an NVQ in something but ideally I'd prefer something specific...especially as I will be funding myself on a meagre salary and cannot afford to choose the wrong thing. I have had some SIMS training and the rest is down to my in-school training with my line manager and my own self-study. Any pointers would be gratefully received! Cheers all, S
  3. Hi folks, I'm not exactly new, just re-registered as I got myself lost...a good start for a Data Officer! This is my first job in a school, specifically a secondary school in NW London. I have worked with databases and Excel before, but from my current level of experience and knowledge, that was just on a pedestrian level...my learning curve has been STEEP . I am a fan of SIMS and wish we could use it to a fuller extent. What works for us is to analyse data externally through Excel, which gives us more freedom to look beyond the numbers. I've learned a lot through these forums so many thanks to all who have ever posted here, I can personally vouch for the helpfulness of many posts. See you soon! SN
