  1. I'm excited to announce we're hiring for a number of permanent roles in our IT team! If you're an IT Technician ready for change or to advance your career, or you're an IT Manager seeking an exciting new challenge, then take a look at the roles below. I've been blessed to work with some great colleagues over the years and (unfortunately for me) they've been offered some huge opportunities that will progress their career even further and whilst I'm supportive, I'm sad to see them go. It just so happens to both be at the same time, which now means we've got to fill our previous capacity along with a new role that will strengthen the whole team. I'm looking for a Deputy IT Manager, a Tier 2, and a Tier 1 IT Technician to join our team here at Learning Academies Trust (https://www.learningat.uk), supporting 18 primary schools in Plymouth. You can find the job description and application forms below: Deputy IT Manager Full time, Permanent, £39,513 - £43,693 Application: https://mynewterm.com/jobs/16439/EDV-2025-LAT-12798 Job Description: https://mynewterm.com/assets/uploads/attachments/Deputy-IT-Manager-Recruitment-Pack-April-25-155.pdf Tier 2 IT Technician Full time, Permanent, £29,093 - £31,586 Application: https://mynewterm.com/jobs/16439/EDV-2025-LAT-19908 Job Description: https://mynewterm.com/assets/uploads/attachments/Tier-2-IT-Technician-Recruitment-Pack-April-25-937.pdf Tier 1 IT Technician Full time, Permanent, £25,992 - £28,624 Application: https://mynewterm.com/jobs/16439/EDV-2025-LAT-21502 Job Description: https://mynewterm.com/assets/uploads/attachments/Tier-1-IT-Technician-Recruitment-Pack-April-25-949.pdf Closing date for all roles is 9am on 30th April. We're doing some great work across our schools, leveraging technology to transform our education and business operations to create efficient systems that empower staff and students to thrive in a modern learning environment. We've a hybrid environment with M365 at the core, and have migrated key infrastructure to centrally manage our resources. We also invest heavily in an annual rolling-programme to keep our schools operational and secure. There are a great deal of projects ahead to improve and innovate and would love you to join our journey of improvements and to pitch in your ideas too. You can view our IT strategy here: https://link.learningat.uk/ictstrategy. If any of this sounds exciting and you want to join us, then please send us an application. Equally if you have any questions or would like a tour of our department, then drop me a message or call on 01752 914160. Lastly, if you know anyone else that would be interested in any of these roles, then please share this post to your connections! Luke Pollard | IT Operations Manager

  5. Having moved out Hosted SIMS to Arbor MIS now, I have never had to install any of the SIMS database/FMS client before as it was entirely hosted. Unfortunately our finance team needed to fire up the backup of FMS for a incorrect VAT claim and good grief how hideous it was trying to work out how to install FMS with no instructions. Finally after trawling many forums, bashing my head against every error message, manually finding and installing BDE, FMS, Messing with ini configs, Installing 2005 SQL native.. we have ourselves a working FMS on one of our VMs. Certainly a blast from the hideous past! I just wanted to say thanks to Oops_my_bad (some 11 years later) for the tools that allowed us to reset the password and finally get into this hunk of junk software.
