Is there a way to use group policy to remove all the items from the File > New... menu in windows explorer (and therefore also the context menu) except for New Folder? It's causing problems when students can create shortcuts to sensitive areas (such as C:\WINDOWS) and generally cause havoc. Actually, how does the 'Restrict access to system drives' option in group policy work? Does it cause any problems with regards to applications/processes etc. being able to access files on the drive?

If you can get a hold of the setup executable (GoogleEarth-Win-Plus-5.0.11337.1968.exe) you can use 7zip to extract the .msi and relevant files from it. You'd probably have to use Orca as above - I haven't tried this because I've got it working now - but this isn't particularly difficult. A google search should turn up the executable. Hope this helps.

Just tried to add it as a package in GP, getting the same error. Waiting for Orca to download now, may need some more help later . Cheers for the advice in the meantime.

Does anyone have an MSI file for Google Earth 5? The one I created with WinInstall LE doesn't work, and I don't really know how to fix it. Alternatively, any help fixing it would also be appreciated (when running the .msi file on a client, it fails immediately with an error 2715 and no useful information).

We have one InFocus projector in school and it's not great - the colours are all wrong and no amount of fiddling with the settings have been able to correct it. It was fairly cheap and unfortunately the only one we could get of the correct focal length for the room. So far, not impressed, but maybe a call to their support line will improve things.

The head of 6th form at school has had the bright idea of buying each 6th form pupil a brand new EEE PC. These laptops will be taken home and used for coursework etc. and also be used in school, although not connected to the network. I've been asked to look into acceptable use policies for these laptops, but tbh I don't really know where to start. Has anyone had to implement something like this before?
