  1. PXE Boot and Bricked BIOS info... For anyone with a bricked GeoBook 1E because they had the temerity to change the boot options in the BIOS, Rachel from geo-computers ([email protected]) offered the following information. I queried if removing the internal battery would void the warranty since it involved opening up the laptop. The PDF was a VERY simple document that was basically remove screws (including the 2 under the rubber rear feet), pry open plastic case, remove screws holding battery in place, detach battery cable (didn't say for how long, I left it 2 minutes) then put it all back together again. Link to PDF After doing this, the GeoBook did in fact boot again. We have the GE109 which does boot from UEFI USB Ethernet Adapter (provided you choose the right one out of the 2 identical-looking options that appear in the boot options).
  2. Also thus far failed to get them to boot from PXE, same experience as RandomName above. Also managed to "brick" one with the same experience as kidpressingbuttons.

Erm... the game pauses while you're trading with a companion! Definitely a case of deliberatenerdynakeditis!

    Fallout 4

All of the fallout games are somewhat unforgiving to the uninitiated but fallout 4 seems to place the player with much more accessible avenues towards their premature death. I've noticed that in general, the game is more forgiving to the North and much nastier to the south, particularly the South-East. Last night I barely survived a fight with a deathclaw only for another to show up just as I was breathing my sigh of relief. Try to pick up the perk that will tell you an enemy's weaknesses/resistances while in VATs (I think it's in Perception). It will help you pick the right weapon (ballistic, energy, runthehellaway). I think the nastiest enemy I've encountered was a mutated legendary synth. It took a pounding, was nearly dead then mutated (full heal), hits like a truck (basically would 1-shot me with a melee hit) and chased me relentlessly. When I finally downed it, I ran over to it's corpse to loot and BEWM... atomic explosion. It turns out than when they drop, you need to run like hell or you're toast! Lots of fun finding that out though!

    Fallout 4

Suicide Bombing Super Mutants are your greatest weapon. I once took out 4 super mutants (including the bomber) with a single shot. Hit the right spot and BOOM. Shotguns need some attention paid to their accuracy and range when modding to be effective. Too large a spread and you have to be right up in their face to do decent damage. I never used the Laser Musket past about level 7-8 ish though. I have never run short of .308 ammo and can do more damage from greater range with my sniper. Just hit lvl 17 last night, it was another late one... oops

    Fallout 4

Not really had any issues. Had a few enemies that forced me to reload & try again with different tactics. Nice thing is, if I do get to that point where I need to use it, I've got enough power cores to go absolutely nuts with it! I actually managed to find some very good military armour (non-power). Took me ages to realise that armour goes over rather than instead of clothing. There was only one fight I had to use some really cheesy tactics (basically involving lots of running & hiding) but that's because the game forced a cutscene conversation immediately after entering an area then a nasty close-up fight with heavy-weapon-equipped raiders. I figured if the game would be unfair to me, I'd be unfair right back at it!

    Fallout 4

Loving it, played about 20 hours so far. Got to level 14 last night. Being deliberately sparse with my skill points, spreading them around, sampling a little bit of everything but I've decided that power armor is not for me. I found the first few levels (1-5) very easy, the next few (6-10) brutally difficult at times then things started getting easier as I upgraded my guns & got better at sneaking. My hints thus far; 1. Spend at least some of your upgrade points on the +20% damage with . It's boring but you need it. 2. Go back to drop off all your junk often, you'll be filling up your inventory fast. Subsequently, don't start with a very low strength score, you'll regret it. 3. Watch out for mercs with big boys, they will literally nuke you in the face from 5yds with no sense of self-preservation. Find the high ground with them so when they shoot & miss it doesn't hit the ground right behind you & kill you anyway. 4. Quicksave often. 5. Make use of mines, chems, terrain. The wasteland is no place for honourable duelling! 6. Save your stimpacks for actual injury where possible, eat food, drink water or nuka cola the rest of the time. These can't cure your broken limbs. 7. If you're overloaded, use a buffout so you're unencumbered then you can fast travel back to your stash. 8. As has already been said, shoot them IN THE FACE. It works well, unsurprisingly. 9. Deathclaws... just don't unless you've got ammo to burn, they're not really worth the effort it takes. 10. Rapid Fire guns are a great way to waste ammo. Yet to find a reason to use one.
  8. Yes, I plan to do this for future builds. Just thought I'd put this fix 'out there' for others to see to save them having to search high & low like I did.
  9. Fresh install of Yosemite (10.10.5) and Sibelius (7.5.1). Logged in as administrator. When you start the software, it detect the licensing server, you click OK then Sibelius instantly closes. No error message, nada. It's a known issue but strangely hard to find out a relatively simple solution. Also hard to understand why such a simple solution hasn't resulted in a small patch or some sort of official fix or announcement. From what I understand of the fix given by their customer support above, Sibelius 7.5 is unable to create the folders in Application Support with the necessary permissions and thus unable to store the License Server's IP address.
  10. From what I understand of the v8 issues, very probably. It sounds like the same issue with Sibelius not having the correct permissions set and thus being unable to create this directory & file for itself.
  11. Follow the instructions below to get Sibelius 7.5 or 7.5.1 to play nice with Yosemite & Sibelius License Server. Note the spelling of "Licence"! Treat all commands here as case-sensitive.
  12. Are you using SWGfL for your ISP? If so then see the link below; http://www.edugeek.net/forums/internet-related-filtering-firewall/137336-swgfl-block-apple-caching-server.html Basic answer, just stop...
