  1. I would go with ssd, if you don't use it for much its not worth forking out the cost for a new laptop. and as others have said when you do get a new one you will have an ssd you can put in it
  2. thanks for the help guys I checked all that. I've solved the issue, It turns out it was the network card. I changed the network card and everything started working.

Hi, We have a server that has done windows updates yesterday. since then none of the clients can access the shares. the machine can see the server if you browse by name but the only folder it can see is the offline home folder. machines can also ping the server. i have uninstalled all windows updates that where done yesterday. i tried temporary disabling the the firewall, that did not work so i put it back on. tried creating a new share and the client machines cant see that. I have also tried taking a machine off the domain changing the name and rejoing it to the domain but i get an error saying "the following error occoured when attempting to join the domain network path not found" I am really out of ideas with this one. i would be greatful for any advice. regards,
