Hi all,
Currently having an issue in at least 2 of my schools with Group Policy. On attempting to do a gpupdate /force I a
Updating Policy...
User Policy update has completed successfully.
Computer policy could not be updated successfully. The following errors were enc
ountered:
The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not obtain the name of a do
main controller. This could be caused by a name resolution failure. Verify your
Domain Name System (DNS) is configured and working correctly.
To diagnose the failure, review the event log or run GPRESULT /H GPReport.html f
rom the command line to access information about Group Policy results.
I can ping the domain, I can see its sysvol folder, I can reach any network resource or web resource. I have tried taking it off the domain and on again, but no changes (and no problems either). I have tried it on wifi and ethernet. I have tried static addresses too.
Domain is fine, it passes dcdiag with no issues.
Its a single DC network, so cant be a replication issue. There are no records of other DCs.
I dont use a loopback policy as the GPOs are not that complicated. And I have the GP timeout set to 20seconds, but also tried removing that and it still didnt help.
GPresult showed this error just under computer configuration...
Group Policy Infrastructure failed due to the error listed below.
The specified server cannot perform the requested operation.
Note: Due to the GP Core failure, none of the other Group Policy components processed their policy. Consequently, status information for the other components is not available.
Any help would be appreciated!!
