Last year Becta published the Learning Platform Functional Requirements document. To maintain the momentum and keep pace with developments, Becta has initiated a series of activities. One of the objectives in moving forward is influencing the remit and direction for both mandated and proposed functionality. This review activity aims to look at the current functionality and that which is proposed for future development. We will be exploring the functions in greater detail by asking questions and seeking answers to verify and validate a rounded viewpoint from a broad range of stakeholders. This will provide a clearer picture which advocates both educational need and technological potential. We would welcome your contribution to these activities given that input from the technical perspective is essential. We would particularly appreciate involvement of Network Managers, or those directly involved in the deployment of learning platforms in schools, at a workshop to be facilitated by Becta in September. If you wish to be considered for inclusion in the project, please email your expression of interest to Rebecca Smart [email protected] stating 'Learning Platform Functional Requirements Workshop' as your subject. Applications need to reach Rebecca by Friday 14th September at the very latest. The workshop location and dates will be announced next week w/c 03/09/07 but please note, in order to retain a sharp focus, workshop spaces will be limited!
