About Heliosedu

  1. Hi, Have noticed some unusual functionality with Personnel absences report, possibly since the last upgrade. Specifically Reports | Personnel | Absence Analysis. A school was reporting unusually high numbers of working days lost on this report, last week. They were using the date range 01/09/2015 > 19/02/2016 and several members of staff came back with impossibly high working days lost (including one with an impressive 400 working days lost between september and february!). The member of staff in question actually only had 5 working days lost - when running the individual absence analysis report for the same specified date range it shows the 5 working days lost correctly. When reviewing the member of staff's absences within Personnel the start & end date and working days lost are entered correctly. However taking the working days out, saving, re-entering and saving again sometimes causes the report to work correctly. We currently have 3 separate schools with this issue. Have any other colleagues noticed this report not working correctly? Thanks
  2. As recently as today we are still having issues with school's devices 'forgetting' and requiring new association codes. It's frustrating to say the least.
  3. Do you have any idea why this resolves the issue mate?
  4. I have this cross-posted to the MIS board. Apologies if that's frowned upon! Hi, We have an issue where users making a change in SIMS (has occurred in assessment, lesson monitor, behaviour), take a long time to save and then get an error and closes SIMS. Often, users then can’t get back in to SIMS. Sometimes it gives them the reason 0 error (even though their .ini contains a timeout of 10000), but some times absolutely nothing happens when running SIMS (no log in screen is presented either). Strangely, this error logging in does not occur on all workstations. We've also had instances where a user on a workstation can't get in at one point of the day, but can several hours later with no changes made. Some users can't get in on one workstation but can on another. In the DNS under interfaces we have Ipv6, the IP for the admin server and the SLG adapter. We have found if IPV6 and the SLG adapter are unticked the issue seems to stop. However, we're not sure why this would be the case and we don't really want to keep them unticked in future. To give you more of a timeline / summary of the events : Everything was working on Monday. From Tuesday : Workstations crashing Network running slow Happening several applications (This isn't just SIMS specific) Everything seemed to work fine once all the users had gone home (reduced network load?) Problem occurring on both wired and wireless workstations Workstations stopping and starting to work with no changes made Does anyone have any insight in to what could be causing this? Have logged a job on Capita but not having any luck with them so far.
  5. Edited the original post with additional information. Thanks!

  7. The PI report is apparently showing a higher value for some candidates progress 8 scores than would be expected based on thier results. As an example a student achieving English Lang and Maths marks of B (double score of 12 each), has no eBacc results, but who's highest three grades in the open section were all B (6 points each) should have a total score of 42 (12+12+6+6+6). However the PI report shows a Progress 8 score of 47 (appears to be including C mark for Eng Lit). Has anyone any experience of something similar happening? No response on Capita's site so far.
  8. Hi, Some clarification from my original post as I realised I used some incorrect terminology - This isn't an actual converting academy, but a school who are simply becoming a different school. Does this have any effect on the (much appreciated) responses above?
  9. Hi, We have a special school who are converting to a new-style academy, and as it's technically a new school there is some confusion whether they can keep their existing SIMS database, patching the DFE number change in (and delete anything no longer required), or if a new database has to be set up and the students moved over. The school's preference is to keep as much data as possible, but the last thing we want is to keep the data only to find out at census time that a new database is required. Have any of you experienced this situation? Thanks
