Anyone using pfSense and filtering their users at all?

Hi all, First post, been lurking for too long! I am thinking about using pfsense to move my school of the LEA assigned ip range so we can tidy it up a bit and prepare ourselves if we ever want to change broadband provider etc. We currently use the LEA proxy filtering based on ports (8083, 8084, 8085 etc). What are my options if I put everyone behind pfsense? Can pfsense use AD groups to dictate different ports? Thanks in advance, Knotty
