  1. I wondered if anyone knew of a way to change the field output in reports. In SIMS, all our surname fields are set to uppercase. I've been asked if I can generate a report which shows student surnames as Smith instead of SMITH? Is there a way to set this up in the report or do we need to manipulate in Excel afterwards? TIA
  2. Quite a few of my colleagues have been complaining about it recently. It takes a while for everything to load so that you can browse properly or open an email, sometimes it gets completely stuck. I would agree that the longer you're working in it, the worse it seems to be.
  3. I'd be very interested to know the answer to this too. A significant number of our Year 7 students have come through with N status via ctf. They've never been assessed so I'm not sure why the primaries have assigned them as N. Scomis provide our support and told me they wouldn't want to use the patch to remove. It's a nuisance though as teachers will assume N - for no longer on SEN register.
  4. I suspect this is a very stupid question but I'm having a panic! I wanted to go in and check something in the promotion rules and a 'Promotion Data Check' warning popped up saying that SIMS wanted to check pastoral groupings first. I clicked OK and it started checking the promotion rules and memberships. It was scrolling through for ages and I started to worry that it might undo some of the curriculum assignment that my colleagues have been working on. Could it have overwritten any changes or am I being overly paranoid? TIA!
  5. That's really helpful, thank you and definitely saves me spending ages trying to work it out myself. I'll give Capita in the morning. Thanks again.
  6. I'm hoping there's a simple answer to this one! Our Cover Administrator has flagged up that she's currently unable to see the AM Reg period or assign cover for it. I'm not very experienced with Cover but she showed me the Cover Diary and I can sort of see the problem. We have a different registration system for 6th form and lower school - we do this as we're a joint 6th form with guest students. There is a defined Reg Period set up in Nova and Year 12 and 13 get assigned to these Reg Period 'classes'. Year 7 - 11 are registered as AM reg and they are not assigned to the Reg Period class. At the moment in the Cover Diary the 6th form registration shows up but not the AM registration session. But we actually need the reverse as the 6th form lessons are not covered. This is apparently a new problem, so it must have worked with our odd setup in the past. Any ideas on how to solve this? TIA
  7. Thanks for your reply vikpaw, I'm glad I wasn't mistaken about there being an obvious lesson monitor report. I've created an initial report but at the moment I'm totally stumped as to how I can assign the lesson marks to a period. I'm assuming it must be possible as I found a similar report on this forum which only picks up period 1 marks, but I just can't work out how it's done. This is what I have so far:
  8. I wondered if anyone could advise me whether or not it is possible to run a report (lesson monitor or otherwise) which picks up any present mark during a day and considers this a count for the day? I have been asked for such a report for our Sixth Formers and so far I can't think of any way of doing it other than exporting attendance and manipulating the data in Excel. Unfortunately, I can't use AM/PM attendance reports as 50% of the students are on the system as guests but we still need to find a suitable report to monitor regular non-attendance. Any advice would be much appreciated!
