  1. Hi all. I have installed NetSUS to to replace my old Munki file server so as to include the Apple Update portion that i was missing before. Think i have nailed most of the setup by creating a new profile to include the url of the server but i cannot see how to Auto install the updates on their own. I can download in the background and all those wonderful things but no background install ? ! There is an option to do this but this say OS 10.14+, is there no way to do this on 10.13 ? Cheers Paul
  2. Hey Chazzy ! I cannot speak for the synology but my qnap has the ability to join to M$ domain. this might make things work for you else what about mapping the share via M$ and sharing with permissions ?
  3. Hi all, i am looking for a way to remove legacy profiles from uses that have not logged on for a while, a bit like the Delprof you would get or the group policy that would remove dead profiles after so many days. Does such a similar thing exist for macs ? I am getting problems from drives filling up here now and rebuilding machines is getting a pain. Paul
  4. You need to use iTunes now to download iOS image. Did you try and turn off “find my iPad/iPhone” when try the activation? P
  5. For all those who use or are about to use "packages" when looking where to place the payload if you right click (command click ?, doing this via remote) you can display then hidden files and then add on the folders you need and attach the script to drop in the correct areas. Hope this helps someone else out ! Paul
  6. Apple configurator can be as basic or as complex as you need. In my case i use it just to get the devices "supervised" and then on to meraki to do the rest. In Apple Configurator , Click Apple Configurator and Preferences. Add your Organisation and Server (My server will be meraki) Once done click account and sign in with your schools account. I have had issues in the past where devices wont download their activation record. Go on to the ipad and turn off "Find my iphone/ipad" !! Create a basic profile with your wireless details (you want this to get them talking to the outside world and saves you doing this) Prepare your iPad Rest is up to you. Either with meraki / intune / mac config etc. Hope this helps you. Paul
  7. I am replacing a script through munki to update a logon bash script that was created. I have done my updates but am stuck on how to create the package that drop it in the correct place ! Packages has been my "go to" for now but i cannot select the exact place i want which is "/usr/local/etc/logon scripts" . Forgive me as i am still VERY VERY green to this and am leaping in the deep end :-) I am picking up very much where someone else has left off and its a case of unpick and try, try again. All help as always appreciated. Thank you all. Paul
  8. Hi all, i just wanted to post a close to this. Thank you to Luke for his suggestion lead me to find out that the mac profile manager was doing nothing and was probably the result of someone previous trying to configure something before Munki was used.. Now to unpick Munki ! Cheers all. Paul
  9. I am trying to understand where and how Network shares have been mapped either by profile manager or by munki. I have been back and forth through the munki packages and profiles that had been previously setup expending and looking at the scripts and can not see any trace of our network drives being mapped. The users home drives are mapped perfectly but the student shares allude me. I can see reference to this in profile manager but still not sure if this even works as the macs have not check in for approx 2years hence my thinking this is not used and I have rebuilt many of them and never re enrolled these neither did my predecessor. So my questions are these. Does the groups and users in profile manager still get used even if the macs are not enrolled. Is there a way to see a log of the profiles/packages installing and what they are doing . I am making much headway but this mapping stuff Is now the only thing holding me up. Thanks in advance.
  10. Thank you ! Will check this out.
  11. Hi all, I am going through the setup of our mac/ad environment here. All works fine. Windows Domain Mac Server with Munki framework Staff and Student logon fine and get their mapped drives as they should. I am going through the setup of all this and trying to work out how things happen and work. One thing, the mapped drives. I have looked through all manor of things and still cannot see how the network shares are mapped. Home drives seem OK but cannot fathom out the mapped shares the the pupil shared drive etc. IE the ones that are shared between either staff or student. Mainly i want to add another map. Any help appreciated. Paul
  12. Hi Magnus, I didn't change any greeting except the one for when someone initially dials in. IE, "Thank you for calling xyz establishment. Press 1 for Adam. Press 2 for Eve. etc. This is a global greeting done from the main handset. Once the person presses said extension then the system goes. "Transferring you to extension five zero one or blah" The recording is just a recording, try pressing an option that's not listed. I went through each one 1 through to 9 including zero and listed them out and this is where I worked out what I could and couldn't use. Found a free one and went from there. I am no expert, just process and elimination and working our what works and doesn't. Listed out each extension and option and went from there. I read the chapters over and over till it kind of sunk in. Good luck Paul
  13. Hi Magnus ! Sorry to hear your in the same place as I was. I had to cheat a little and I used the ring group IE 501 / 502 / 503 etc and added the extension IE 209 to that. Basicly when the caller rings in it looks for a digit match and I found a spare one and added this on and then the receptionist recorded a new greeting message on. As I put I couldn't see entirely where this was supposed to go, and I think as I wanted to use extension 209 the 9 was being cancelled out as 9 is normally used to trigger dialling and outside line. If you need the menu points for where I done things then ask but not back in office till tomorrow. All best Paul
  14. Hi all, again thanks for the replies. I have created a way to do this by stealing one of the group extensions IE 507 and reconfiguring that for the time being. Would still love to figure out how to do this direct IE option 2 goes to 209. Or maybe this cannot easily be done. All this seems to work fine but I am sure there is a better way. anyway. thanks all Paul
  15. Hi all, thanks for the replies, really appreciated. I am sure there is some logic to this system. As far as I can tell it is all down to one particular table [732] Entry No Input Digits Dest 1 0 500 2 2** B 3 3** B 4 5** B 5 8*** B 6 9 P3 At the moment Option 1 goes to one place and 4 to another I would like to add IE 7 to go to 209 all the extensions are 201 > 216 I have just tried adding 7 in the input digits and then 209 in the destination but so far this does not work. I can dial the whole 209 from the AA announcement and this does work ! So entry 2 is handling all this....... I could cheat and move a couple of the extensions round to just make it work.
  16. HI all ! i have a pbx that I need to add another AA option too. Samsung Officeserv 100. Dial 1 for reception Dial 2 for the blue room I need to add a three for the "green room" I am looking through the manual and cannot see where I do this either via the reception handset or via the pbx backend I know how to change the greeting message but not the dial options. Can someone help me please ? Cheers P
  17. Thank you William i will put this to the test :-) Paul
  18. Does anyone know how to remove the "sign-in" options boxes from the login page on windows 8. I have seen how to select the default domain in Group policy which I am applying now as this is stumping some people and I am getting many saying they cannot logon. It would be really nice to get rid of the sign-in option boxes totally from the logon page to further remove temptation from people tinkering. Thanks all in advance. Paul
  19. Hi all, we have a bloxx filter here and it will not allow any https traffic through. On first glance I can see that there is a wpad.dat file being used function FindProxyForURL(url, host) { // If the requested website is hosted within the internal network, send direct. if (isPlainHostName(host) || shExpMatch(host, "*.internal") || isInNet(dnsResolve(host), "10.18.222.0", "255.255.240.0") || isInNet(dnsResolve(host), "127.0.0.0", "255.255.255.0")) return "DIRECT"; // DEFAULT RULE: All other traffic, use below proxies, in fail-over order. return "PROXY proxy.zzzz.internal:3128"; there are authentication profiles as follows. Default http interecept 3128 ssl intercept port 8080 intercepted traffic http intercept 80 ssl intercept port 443 Is there supposed to be an extra line in the wpad.dat to point towards the ssl port or does the ssl interecept port need changing. Paul
