We use Papercut MF and Konica MFDs, staff can use either their ID badge or a code to login and can charge their copying or printing to seperate departments (for those who teach different subjects). Students have restrictions on page counts and copy counts using the same system but without any logging in - its based on their AD login. ...saved us a fortune!

hmm, we are on 8.1-2 at the moment and have started getting some of the issues you describe. some clients can 'see' the wifi but can't connect to it - nothing on the radius server or DHCP to say a connection was even attempted, others are now not seeing any SSID until i reboot the APs in the area... Not looking very good to be honest, im not sure what Fortinet are doing with the Meru systems other than making them look pretty. Finding firmware updates is a bit of a chore now since they started rebranding System Director to FortiWLM - now i can't find the 3200 any more!

7.x did that for us quite a lot (sometimes down to 3mins!). 8.0 is better but the APs don't seem very rock solid like they were back in the 6.x days, shame considering the price of the kit!

Hi Bruce, We had the same issue here with version 7 and 832 APs, our controller is a MC3200. We upgraded to the version you listed above (8.0-SR1-2) and that cured it. The latest version on their site is 8.0-6-0 by the way and support seem a bit confused when you say you are running the SR1 build instead as if it doesn't exist! Cheers, Mike

Hi synaesthesia, The issue is the main unit will lock up after a couple of minutes of being on, kinda like it is overheating (it isn't, i tried it open in our nice cold server room - did the same thing). The only way to get it back again is to turn it off and remove the battery, then you can turn it on again but it will lock up soon after. If it helps, the unit is a DSP-4100.

Hi All, Over the past few years we have been installing our own network cabling and have been using my own personal Fluke tester to certify the cable and for any troubleshooting, however it has now decided to break down....nuts! I contacted Fluke to get it shipped off for repair, however they replied saying they no longer repair my model anymore...double nuts! Does anyone know anybody in the UK who would be able to fix such a thing? I have tried a few online who specialise in testing equipment repairs but no such luck - they mainly just say they don't touch network testers. many thanks, Mike

Hi All, I am currently working on a plan to get our staff ID cards moved from a very 'antique' laminated piece of card to an RFID card, along with replacing a biometric door lock on our main building - with the intention of replacing the entire school's door locks. I have hit a bit of a wall in regards to the powers that be for money with the cost to replace each door - im being quoted £250 per lock - Are there a more cost effective alternative? We were quoted for Salto and Paxton so far.... 1x wall mounted 'online' lock and 4x cylinder replacement, battery powered - Not 'online' locks as they made the costs jump a bit! Any help would be great cheers, Mike

Thanks for that, i've adjusted the Load Balancing and will see how it goes. We are not using WPA2 for any of the SSIDs but will bear this in mind for the future. Slightly related question, Is there somewhere in the software to show the client count for each AP? (i've looked under Network > All Access Points but it displays all client columns as 0!)

Hi All, We currently have 2 Netgear WFS709TPs running in a Master-local configuration and around 11 Access points. Recently we have been having problems with users connecting to certain APs. The SSIDs are displayed but the clients cannot connect (any client, from iphone/ipad/mobile device to Windows XP SP3 laptops and netbooks) However if the AP was power cycled, then the AP would start accepting clients again. I have checked the controller and it appears to still think the AP is available and restarting the AP from the controller doesn't fix the issue. Nothing has been changed on the network recently that would affect this as far as we can tell. The current setup also involves the APs (all WAGL102s) being connected around the network apart from 1 that is connected to one of the ports on the controller. All switches are HP Procurve. Any ideas please, im scratching my head on this

Hi all, I've been happily using edusweep 1 and have now installed 2.1, however when i run a task, it does its counting directories bit then dissapears! looking in the event viewer i can see: any ideas?? im a bit lost here and would like this brilliant program working again Mike

Hi All, Im after a recommendation for a projector replacement in a design&technology room. Basically they have had a WB + Proj fitted around 2 years ago (i wasn't working there at the time ) however we've gone through around 3 projectors during this time! It would seem although the filters are cleaned daily, and having a new extraction system fitted in the room, the lcd slowly burns out due to dust particles getting inside the projector What im after is an idea about something that would run in this classroom confortably and would last us around 3+ years without too much trouble (obviously cleaning filters weekly). The current projector in situ is an Epson EMP-X5, are there 'harsh environment' kits for these? ideas please?
