Hi All, We use a public folder whole school calendar here which as you know is a pain to access via Outlook. I can add the calendar manually to each users favourites, but this is a pain. Does anybody have a script that will add a public folder calendar to the users favourites? We are using Outlook 2016. I have tried out various scripts unsuccessfully, but I think they may be for older versions of Outlook. Thanks

Implementing a voip phone system. Where to start?
Qas replied to Qas's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Great. Our HP switches support LLDP. Will I be able to configure the port so that the phones use a VLAN that I create or will the phones use an automatically created VLAN? -

Thanks for the reply. I hadn't thought about mobile twinning, but that is definitely a "that would be cool" point and I can see that being quite popular. How / why would you link a PA system to the phone system? I cannot think why you would do this so I am curious. Much appreciated. -

Thanks Caffrey. I'm thinking about doing it in house. If I go with an off prem system, do I not need SIP trunks? -

Sounds interesting. What system do Schools Broadband use? I am assuming you gave them a list of numbers that need porting? If so, how long did the switching over take? Thanks -

Hi Chris, Thank you so much that summary. If you Daisy Chain phones, can the phone still be part of a different VLAN then the PC that is connected to it? I have read that this is possible, but not sure if this is only configurable on Cisco phones / switches. Thanks -
Hi all, Project coming up is to ditch our analogue phone system to a voip one. What have you all done first in this scenario? I have managed voip systems before so I am familiar with configuring them, but I have never moved from an analogue system before. Any advice? Thanks

Hi All, I know this has been asked countless times but I still have not managed to find a way that works for us. I completely understand that these apps should be removed before creating an image, but unfortunately, this was not done in our scenario. I have various powershell scripts that remove apps and which work fine when manually run on a PC. How do I go about deploying this via Group Policy? Login scripts does not seem to work for me, but I can't seem to think of any other way of doing it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All, Anybody know how I can force Windows 10 Clients to download from WSUS without having to wait until the scheduled install time? Thanks
-
Hi, No I have not made any changes to the Default Profile. Windows Updates seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks for your help all...

Hi All, Just did a new image with Windows 10 1709. When I open Edge, it opens for a few seconds and then closes with no error codes at all. Has anybody else experienced this issue? Thanks

Hi All, Does anybody know how to deploy a shortcut to "This PC" on a users Windows 10 Desktop? Thanks
-
Thanks Sparkeh, that works once a user is logged in. Any idea how to get it to apply to the computer so that the keyboard is UK on the logon screen as well?
-
Hi All, I am struggling to set the keyboard to UK on our Windows 10 PCs via GPO. As usual, the main issue is that the @ sign is ". Does anybody know what the current best solution for this is? I am surprised that this is not a default configurable setting in Group Policy! Thanks for your help.

Which Apps do you use in the classroom and which are the most useful.
Qas replied to Qas's topic in How do you do....it?
Great List. Explain Everything does seem to come up quite a lot as well as AirServer. Does anyone else use anything other than AirServer to broadcast their iPad to the PC? -
Also a big fan of the Register. I guess a lot of the skills we use in Education are transferable so learning about changes in the Tech world in general should apply to us as well.

Where do you see IT going in education in the next 5 years?
Qas replied to Qas's topic in General Chat
As Large screens are dropping in price, I do see these replacing projectors in the classroom. Integration for tablets has always been key which is why I thought Microsoft would have nailed it by now....maybe in the near future? - - - Updated - - - Haha.. I feel your pain. 7 down, 80 to go! -
Hi All, Many schools have already migrated to Office 365 or G Suite while some have not. Some are using Microsoft or Google Classroom . iPads still seem to be the main tablet of choice in education. Where do you think we will be in the next 3 - 5 years? Do you think iPads will still be in the classroom? Will all projectors and boards be replaced with touch screens? Will we all be using Azure more extensively. Interested in your thoughts.

Hi All, How do you all keep up to date with technology, more specifically in education? Browsing this forum has definitely taught me a lot over the years as well as visiting the Bett Show annually, but is there any other avenues that you explore to ensure you are kept up to date with changes / best practices etc. Thanks
-
Hi Alex, Thanks for the explanation. I would like to move all of our staff to the cloud but the whole school calendar is very important to them. As soon as I migrate a member of staff, they will lose access to the Calendar. I am thinking of migrating the outlook calendar to a sharepoint online calendar to make things easier. Your thoughts Alex?

Hi blueplanetit, All of our users are AD sync'd.

Hi All, I am in the processing of migrating all of our on-premise mailboxes to Office 365 but I having an issue with our whole school calendar. Our whole school calendar that was created on-premise has been shared to all users, but users who have been migrated to Office 365 cannot view it. Does anybody know how I can overcome this issue? Thanks..

Hi All, How do you manage software licenses and subscriptions? We would like an easy to use solution to see at a quick glance what and when licences are expiring. Is there any software out there that does this without being too complex? We currently have this info in an excel spreadsheet but I am sure there is a better / easier solution out there. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
