I am in a similar position at the moment - our head of BTEC has asked me to look into some checkers and although we have some money for a paid service, I think turnitin from what I have read is quite expensive. Anyone using an alternative that they would recommend?

What was the argument if you're happy to share

Our Schoolcomms keeps crashing at random times - stating that 'connection to schoolcomms is broken'. Nothing has changed with our firewall or filtering - if anything I have opened it up more upon their request. Schoolcomms themselves are clueless as to what it can be, despite admitting that we are not the only school with the problem. A bit of background - our schoolcomms has been absolutely fine since the new network was implemented in July and only started doing this a few weeks ago. It will crash when people are running reports, just navigating the menu and when they're doing nothing at all! The timeout value within the SIMS connect.ini file (C:\program files\sims\sims.net) was changed to add a couple of zeros on the end - this appeared to make things better again but it has started happening again. I am hoping that someone here has maybe had a similar issue or can offer some advice. Many thanks Mike
