I had this the other day when users were trying to manually change their password through alt+ctrl+del. It wasn't the complexity (although the message claimed so) its the policy that says "password must be at least 30 days old before being allowed to change". Not sure if this is a newer password they are trying to change with your problem, but this does sound similar. Its in group policy, default policy, Windows Settings, Security, Account, Password and in there.

Do you mean disallow the network shares? Depends how you are deploying these drives. If deploying with GPO mapped drives this would be easy. If you were to have a username such as, I don't know, guest1 say, put them in there own group and have a drive policy separate for that group. Make sure any drives they NEED for stuff to run are added but with 'hidden' ticked and just don't map anything else?

Hi All, I'm setting up a new server solution where I intend to split up the server roles into seperate VM's. DC, Fileserver, Print Server etc. I currently don't have the physical server (on the way..), I was just wondering if anyone forsees any problem with preparing these VM's on my laptop in virtual box, and then importing the vhd's into Hyper-V later (obviously expanding the fixed disk) and continuing the build from there. Obviously this would save me time waiting for the physical server, but I was wondering if I would experience any glitches or such down the line which am keen to avoid. Thanks in advance

Depending on the time you are based in the school, I'd be inclined to setup a username for them that you can enable or disable depending on the group active status in the school. 'Footballclub' or whatever. Off the top of my head, there is a gpo that allows you to set a time period when a user can log in - any attempts outside that time period then they are refused. If an after school club, set this to between 3pm and 7pm or whatever. The thing to note about that policy though is that it doesn't force log off when the time expires, so if the user is left logged in, it will stay active. It will just refuse them login during the illegal hours.

Although I've not seen that issue before, the fact she works elsewhere, and other users work on that machine, leads me to think somethings gone a bit weird in her profile on that machine... As long as all her profile data is local to that machine (doesn't sound like it from what you've said), I'd clear the local profile off and log her in again fresh perhaps? See if that sorts it?

Is the printer hosted on a server and the script adds their shared path? If so, in printer properties, is the printer set to spool rather than print directly to device? I'd make sure it's spooling via the server using that setting first. Also, I'd consider adding the printers via GPO (obviously depends on your setup), but I at one time at some randomly unreliable printer connections resolved by moving away from the script and to the add printer function in GPO (this was 2008 server). Maybe not specific to your issue, but I find it does help a lot of issues.

Just installed the latest version of chrome myself and am opening pdf's fine using file:/// , so not sure its the version?
