OK guys... read the whole thread and this is what worked for me. I did not need to update the bios. I removed the hard drive and deleted the partitions that Windows 7 makes so that there is just one partition. Formatted the whole single partition. Replaced it in the Stone laptop and rebooted with Windows 7 installation disk. Used Custom install and selected the single partition to install to. Installed perfectly and the laptop boots Windows 7 fine. Problem solved for me, hope it works for you guys too!
