  1. Just had a look at our 2800, and the microswitch isn't a sticky outy bit. If you lift the flap on the right, where the print head is, and look on the left hand side there is a rectangley oval slot, in there is a black plastic flap. It corresponds with a piece of plastic on the lid. Try pushing the black flap down with a screwdriver or something similar, and see if that helps.

  4. Thanks for all your input people, some things to think about and i will be contacting either the union or county hall for their take on this issue. And yes my school does have investors in school status, should that make a difference?
  5. Hi, ozzy, they asked me if i wanted to go on the course, and ICT_GUY, yeah i had the same thought, why sign if i've already done it. If/when i take the exam i guess they won't send me on any more training until i do sign. thankyou
  6. Hello, i am a IT technician at a school in Leicestershire, i was recently sent on a Microsoft training course 70-291. This was enable me to help out more on the network side of things to help out our network manager. I have now been asked by the business manager to sign a contract that states that if i leave within 6 months i have to pay back 100% of the fee, between 6 months and a year 75%, between 1 year and 18 months 50% and between 18 months and 2 years 25%. My question is are there any other technicians especially from Leicestershire that have encountered this ? The business manager says its a council policy, however the document has no logo or name on. cheers

  8. Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere on this forum, i did have a quick search and couldn't find anything but Tesco are selling what looks like a mini 9 but for £249, out of stock though. Dell Inspiron N270 1GB 8.9" Web Browser - Tesco.Direct
  9. I've done a fair few hard drive recovery jobs, forget the USB thingy and get one of those cables that converts the hard drive connector to IDE, i get much better results with the computer seeing the drive. I think maplins sell them for about a fiver.
  10. We had a couple where the cable was visibly damaged, but recently we had 3 in 2 different trolleys that showed no signs of damage, maybe try wiggling the connector where it joins the lapsafe, to see if it affects the status of the LED ?
  11. Hi, we have a number of lapsafes in our college, and have had a few where the green lights are on. It has tuned out to be the wire that comes out of the lapsafe and plugs into the laptop. Speaking to the lapsafe engineer who replaced ours its a common thing. Its a CF19 if i remember correctly, maybe a different number if you don't have Dells. If i remember right lapsafes come with 3 years warranty.
