Hello Edugeekers, This is a bit of a bizarre (I prefer "out of the box") request so please bear with me! I promise that, at some stage, I will get to the point! I mentioned in a previous post that we have been interviewing for new telesales staff/account managers. We have very successfully kicked off the interviewing process and met some great candidates who have made it through to the next round... the TRIAL DAY. Now, myself and the big cheese have been discussing how best to test the chosen few. We considered investing in a prospect database (which may form part of the plan), giving them something cracking to sell and setting them loose. Then we thought about every previous database we've invested in and just how messy they are to begin with and how much fine tuning, cleansing and tweaking they require and took pity on our potential fledglings. Then I had the idea. An idea so cunning you could pin a tail on it and call it a weasel. Maybe. So basically, what I'm looking for is a number of Edugeekers who would be willing to give us some contact details to include in a list we will be giving to our potential new recruits (minions) who will be asked to call you and try their best to win you over/sell you something you don't have but desperately need. This means that our fledglings will have not only someone a little bit "warmer" (if you'll forgive the sales jargon) to call and also gives us the potential of getting some feedback from you guys on how you think they performed. At the end of the day, we want people on the phones and on the end of the phone that you lot are happy to call and have a natter with. If you think they have the charisma of a damp napkin, it really isn't a great start. So now I've (sort of) got to the point. Do we have any volunteers?

Hello Edugeekers! As I'm sure the vast majority of you are aware... it all kicks off tomorrow! So to get the ball rolling I present you with Silicon Alley's World Cup Competition! I'm afraid this is limited to the UK-livers amongst us to make it nice and easy to get the prizes out and will be England focused. What we are looking for is the scores for the first (and perhaps only) three England group games starting with: England v Italy: Saturday 14th June 11pm If you would like to enter, please email me (for ease of recording the guesses) your score predictions to [email protected] including your Edugeek screen-name, name, job title and place of work! You may also include some entertaining football puns, if we get enough of these I may be tempted to add an additional "Punniest Pun of World Cup 2014" prize to the mix. Emails received after 1pm on Saturday 14th June will not be accepted. There will be a prize given to whoever guesses the correct score. If there are multiple correct guesses, a name will be pulled from a football boot! The prize for each match will be an ASUS MemoPad ME173 and there will be a special, bonus prize given to anyone who manages to correctly score a hat-trick (predict all three matches)! To begin with we are only accepting guesses for the first England game against Italy, we will post here when we open score predictions for the next match against Uruguay. "Because if they lose I'm going to direct all my angst at you." "But I hate Chelsea." "Yes but if they win I'll be happy which means you'll have a much nicer evening." "I'm a Leeds fan, I just can't cheer for Chelsea." "So you'd rather me be grouchy and annoyed with you than just keep that to yourself for 90 minutes?" "Exactly. Glad we've cleared that one up."

I don't even care that England will inevitably let us down in the most painful way possible, probably by having a great/not awful 15 minute start to matches, getting the first goal in and then going into standard England mode, it's World Cup time and I'm excited.

Maybe we can get @witch 's daughter to design something that showers students in red ink if they try to mess with/remove a mouse or keyboard.

We're constantly supplying our schools with keyboards/mice and I remember my school having the same issues. At one stage someone was going around replacing the balls with malteasers...

I know that variations on this exist but some kind of device to check for drink spiking.

Exactly this. My reaction to watching England is a bit like watching the Office. Toe curling, awkward, cringe-inducing, hiding behind a pillow. The only difference is that England football induces despairing rather than amused laughter.

As much as I am 150% behind making sure that children are safe and not in any way being mistreated, I do think things have gone ridiculously the other way.

Well the worst thing if you ask is that they say no! I only asked because we have a few people doing courses/diplomas etc. related directly to work, funded by the company and they're allowed/encouraged to study during work time if they need to.

Is the degree directly related to the job you're doing? Are they funding the course?

Haha, the picture of her and her dad make it look like she's undergone some awful trauma. There's every chance in the world that her, the teacher and the rest of the class were having a giggle about it. I can't imagine anyone sellotaping someone's mouth or having their mouth selotaped in these circumstances in a serious fashion.
