Hi all, I am going to be doing a spreadsheet that shows: outgoing expenses like SIMS costs, Internet costs etc. Number of PCs and monitors that need replacing over 5 years and the costs. I tended to break it down by each year with the cost and location of each PC and monitor, I then need to add this up with the annual costs from the above. That will then show total yearly costs for the school. They can then see costs in year 3, 4 and then year 5 will show the PCs we've just replaced. Would anyone have a template or a screen shot (figures blanked out of course!) to give me some ideas? First time I've approached this, we just need to provide costings for the school over 5 years. I know my costs for the annuals, also I have prices for the PCs and monitors, I have a full audit. Cheers!

We have a couple of Job Application Forms in DOC format, we'd like people to be able to fill these out online. (Ipad./mobile users). Has anyone done this with Frog? Or some other service? What about MS Forms although that looks like surveys. Thanks.

Hi all, we had to replace a failed switch here, the cab as another 4 or so all with fan errors. They are quite old 3COM switches, they are fed with a Distribution switch which is HP. We engaged a VAR who suggested Aruba switches and using their cloud management. However, they struggled to get the Aruba working with our existing network. The switch was setup locally with the GUI. Does anybody here have experience of Aruba switches and Aruba Central? Is it worth it or should we stick with HPE? We do need to replace more switches over the coming years and we have not had much engagement with our current VAR or Aruba. We have Aerohive and this needs replacing in a couple of years, possibly with Aruba so I wanted to try and tie it all into one brand and manage from one place. Lookng for anyone with experience of Aruba switches, Aruba Central, wifi and also of HPE to give me their feedback. Cheers.

Hi all, I need to write a 3 year plan for our school and other schools in the trust. We have Excel spreadsheets, they show details like PC make/model, projector bulb life, etc... I also need to show how long the life expectancy is so I then have a traffic light system..so Red means replace now, Yellow year 2 and then Green year 3+. I can continue with that, but before I do does anyone have a snazzy template they use or something online? We do have Sharepoint etc.. Cheers.

Ok so if I go into office 365 admin I can see the mailbox. The third party have tried using smtp.office365.com but their app shows mailbox cannot be accessed

I created an account for them on the Exch which shows on 365 admin, but to do a no reply, is it best to create it another way? Sorry, bit new to this particular thing.

Hi all, I inherited a slightly overly complex on premises Exchange Server running in Hybrid with Office 365. Our ISP is LGFL. We had a request from a third party (Abyasa) for an SMTP server for their app to send mail. I gave them the webmail address and ports and account details (newly created account) for our exchange but it did'nt work. Looking further into it, it seems our exchange server only allows inbound mail from office 365 and mx.lgfl.org I think. They offered an SMTP relay for Abyasa. Should I be offering a relay to Abyasa rather than opening up ports on our Exchange server? Or can I give them office 365's smtp address? Thanks for any help. James

Anyone got this issue or had it before? It was fine over the Summer, but testing it from various locations using a tethered laptop or a server at another site, all shows the same issue, timeout on remote computer connection. Frog just say it must be the users computer, but its affecting a whole bunch of staff and the IT team.

Hi, I will check tomorrow, but we noted all the switches in each edge cab have a static route "ip route-static 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.211.207.254" set on it, so I think its all being done by the core routering in a main comms room. But will check.

We spent sometime this morning looking at it, everything seems up and running now. It appears we have a L3 switch in our comms room (well three). An L3 switch in each wing of the building (call this the local core switch) with a fibre back to the above comms room 3 or more L3 switches hanging off the local core switch with copper. All the switches in each wing around the site have ip route-static 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.211.207.254 coded into them, sending traffic straight to a core switch in the comms room. It does seem totally over the top, a common theme I have found. I am proposing we replaced the x number of access switches with L2 switches and remove the core switch in each wing and put the fibre straight into a L2 switch and then stack the rest. Simplifying the system. What do you think?

Hi all, I inherited at large rather complex network with little documentation. Each wing of the school has a "core" switch, this goes from fibre to copper into various 48port switches, some PoE. All these switches are L3. Now several of these are now starting to fail, mostly fan issues but also PSU issues. The model numbers are 3CR17762-91 and 72-91. I first of all, assumed they would be L2 due to the core switch, so looked at Ubitqui, then when we checked the config of the failing switches, noticed a static route in each one. This goes from the VLANS (wifi, admin ,curric etc.) to the Mgmt Vlan. So I am unsure if we must have L3 or can we go for L2? The same code is in the core switch. Can anyone shed light on this? I've done very little VLAN/L3 myself. James

Hi all, I have been asked to create shared calendars for SLT members, I'm told that they are populated with lessons from SIMS and then PAs can add in appointments with the risk of clashing with teaching time. My SIMS helpdesk tell me it can only be done manually, but previously here it sounds like it was imported some how. Any ideas? James

We have on premise AD if that helps.(or not as I suspect!)
