In powerpoint 2003, tools > options > security > macro security there are 4 settings. If you don't choose the "low" option powerpoint prompts with a potentially unsafe file type message and provides a yes no box

Hi All Wondering if you can help. Doing a piece of BSc coursework. Have to produce an Expert SYstem in Powerpoint (Don't know why) I have an AVI file I want to call in WMP in full screen and then close once playback is over. The videos are captured at 800*600 from VMWare so embedding them in the PPT file is not really feasible as the target machines are quite old. I have managed a work around in a batch, file to get suppress the yes/no prompt for opening a batch file I have had to lower the security settings which I may not be able to do on the target system. I think I need a less sloppy way to do this. I was wondering if a macro would help but I thought a similar thing may occur with the security warning. ALso, I have never worked with VBscript. I have done the distance learning thing - did an MCSA in Windows 2000 Did the following: 70-215 Server 2000 70-270 XP Pro 70-218 Server 2000 Network Admin A+ Net+ Paid approx 3k but up front. All the exams were paid for and materials sent, but the support only was good for a finite time (2 years, this was back in 2002 though) I would advise seriously against this. It is really expensive. And from the look of his car, the area sales rep wasn't getting a bad cut! I didn't make any use of the support services and so the value for money was poor. Also, the one I used they offered training courses at their base but cost didn't include accommodation/xport. Books are approx £20 - 40 per piece. A+ and Net+ exams are approx 80 quid, if memory serves. MCP exams are approx £110 inc vat. Thus had I done the stuff myself I'd have been at least £1000 in pocket. If you have any understanding of computers, the courses I did should be easy enough. A+ is split into 2 disciplines, hardware and OS. H/w is more interesting as looks at old 8086 architecture and the first IBM PCs. If you can, get your employer to pay for your exams / external training. A+ is pretty simple but quite interesting. MCP exams were totally different to the CompTIA, so google some test exams before doing any MCP exams if that's what you want to do.

That's pretty funny. Problem is that when ever you buy something as a direct replacement, you generally get a new power cable as well, so item X ends up in the bin but the cable doesn't normally fail.

With regard to on site visits, I guess it is something a postcode lottery. Some areas of the business I work in have better engineers than others.

Thinking about it. Would be approx 5-7k pay cut, so'd need to go in at top end of salary. Are you the current post-holder? Don't think it is really viable. The last post I was interviewed for was 14.3 to 16.3 and it was just up the road so I'd have saved on transport costs.

I have solved this. It was configured in tools > options > library tab > monitor folders > my folders and those of others I can access > "folder path\c" as a rip folder. A quick hop to tools > options > rip music > and then changing the folder for ripped music fixed it.

The folder in question doesn't appear in the library... checking registry

ok I just thought I would delete the folder in safe mode and it wasn't there on reboot, but as soon as I opened WMP 11 it came back. Think I have found the cause.... just working on a fix

It was WMP11 and no, it opens a different folder. Weird one.

Hi All Strange one this. A while ago I ripped a bought cd to a folder on my home machine desktop called "c" - Windows must really love it because even though I have "shift + delete" deleted it it keeps coming back after a reboot or if I hibernate. I am running windows XP Pro SP 2. It is not on a domain. The contents of the folder were moved to a removable storage device. If I look at its properties it's half read only. I have tried to use the attrib command in command line to shift its semi-read-only status but to no avail. Anyone shed any light on this? The folder has never been a shared folder and the NTFS permissions look OK. It actually deletes as well. Regards Nick

That's incredible value. I paid 160 *2 and 276 * 2 for 4 * 13 weeks of ccna instruction at a local college. Had to buy lab on top of that (£400) to £1000+ not inc exam fees Benefits are continued access to curriculum and also can use lab for routing ADSL etc.

I think I will apply. 3rd time lucky maybe, had interviews at Darwen Vale and St Christopher's Accrington but have been "out-experienced" by another body who's worked in a school for yonks! Despite being technically more knowledgeable...

I think council tax should be free for all council employees. I don't see how anyone would get out of bed for 13k a year unless there was some incentive. I am thinking of applying but I'd need to start at the top end to make it financially viable.
