Hi all, Im having trouble with deploying windows to Mac using MDT. I currently have my windows image all setup and have followed the instructions stated on this website. (Lion) Deploy Windows on Macs using MDT. | Guillaume Remy im using a dvd to boot the litetouch iso. Everything boots fine and can select which OS i want to install, however when it gets to running the discpartmac.txt command the install errors out. 0x800005004? any help appreciated, Thanks, Jesse

Hi All, What is the best way to approach this. I would like the year 12 cohort to be able to take laptops home and login without the domain controller present. however I was hoping that the security policies remained the same and they could not alter anything once taken home. From researching i have taken into consideration of using the following GPO: Interactive logon: Number of previous logons to cache (in case domain controller is not available) [h=1] [/h]as these are individual laptops assigned to the user i could set this to 1 cached credential and if i was to login as admin they wouldnt be able to scramble my password. though if i was to implement this GPO would it keep previously applied group policies that i currently use to lockdown the computer. Hello, Im looking into the process of raising the domain function level to windows 2008 (currently on 2003). this is due to a software requirement for a new system. recently i demoted a file server running 2003 as a domain controller. however this also acts as the DHCP for the network. At the moment i have 4 DC's all at 2008 R2. my question is, would it be ok to raise the functional level to 2008 even though the DHCP is ran on a server running 2003? Any help appreciated.

Hello, Currently using MDT 2012 to image on a separate server, never had any problems before. Recently i had a domain controller which acts as a file server demoted as it was a 2003 machine and wanted to raise the domain to 2008. however this server also acted as a DNS and DHCP, something that i have another Server acting as now, this server replicates from the primary. however, when i try to image a computer it is coming up with an error. the error states that it can reach the deployment share but i have invalid credentials. I have tried: -rebuilding the lite touch file -changing the bootstrap.ini to the ip address of the server I never set MDT up, is there a option somewhere that specifies the DNS server to use? any help appreciated.

i double checked times on all servers and clients and all are synched to the same second and to the same server.

Hello, Have a classroom of 30 imacs running a mix of snowleopard and lion. we have a macserver which copies user info from our windows active directory as we are a predominetly a windows school. however a major issue we have is that we fail to login straight away. the screen will shake indicating wrong login information however this is not the case. most time it will take 5-10 attempts before we can login properly. any ideas on what could be causing the issue? and a fix for it. happy to explain more.

I am looking for a way to shorten the process of ejecting a docking station. The device is a Hp Split X2 running windows 8. Im aware i can go down to the taskbar, click the icon to safely eject and then click on docking station. however when you have staff that have precious time and don't want to waste it clicking multiple icons just to go to tablet form it can get frustrating. Im looking for a simple desktop icon shortcut or script that i can run which once clicked will eject the dock. I have tried running a shortcut with this "Rundll32.exe shell32.dll.Control_runDLL hotplu.dll" However this only picks up usb's and not the docking station. Thanks in advance.

I have found what was causing the issue and it turned out to be that my main DC is running at a forest functioning level of windows 2000. Server 2012 requires a minimum of server 2003. Thanks,

Thanks for the link ADMaster, I copied and pasted the policydefinition folder into the domain\policy folder, but after doing it. I still have the same issue in that it doesn't recognise any Group policy changes. any thing else i could try?

Hey all, Im looking at upgrading my site to windows 8 next year. However our servers are in a 2008/03 environment therefore I cannot change any win8 settings. while i could update all servers to 2012 its just going to be a very time consuming job, something I don't seem to have a lot of. So, I set up a VM of server 2012 and added group policy roles to it. I then joined it to the domain, as well as gave it a static IP address. upon opening the group policy management window i found it has picked up the domain and all my previous rules for windows 7 and has also got all the rules for win 8 however when i make a change and force an update on a client it does not seem to pick up the change. I have not made an attempt to play with replication as im not quite sure if this is what i should be doing. Any help appreciated,
